šŸˆ What do you think Alabama fans would consider a ā€˜normal’ season if we didn’t compare everything to the Saban era?

Bama football of excellence is normal and it did not just start under Saban. Looking across multiple coaches and across multiple decades instead of a single year Bama is being Bama when they win their share of championships. Converting that success to a single season where they won championships, they likely only lost one game and won the SEC championship. Do you have to win a championship every year? No but you need to win your share and how you play matters. Do not get embarassed with how you compete against anyone.

I assume we would all consider these coaches successful. Each of these coaches teams year in and year out played with discipline, toughness and physicality.

National Championship Coaches at Alabama:
Across 7+ decades Bama has played they won championships. There is no program that compares to Bama. Normal for Bama is not normal for everyone else.

That's not what I asked though. You're comparing to previous era.

My question was this:
What do you think Alabama fans would consider a ā€˜normal’ season if we didn’t compare everything to the Saban era?

Which era do you want to compare? This is one of the reasons I mentioned the "year three" mantra and how deceptive it can be. Stallings vs Shula? DuBose versus Perkins? Curry's third season? And yes, Saban's.

Bama football..... is being competitive...tough...not cheating...players acting civilized...
Something fans are proud of....Bear/Stallings style ...HC acts like he is in charge...knows how to speak to press...has a plan...tough minded...has a message...Bear/Saban style...players giving all...not quitting...accept loss but never defeat....gracious in victory.....being all Bama....proud
Things that make Bama respected.

What if I didn't want to compare to any era... But just basically look at the program for what it is by itself, but I suppose it's hard to do so without comparing previous era.

It has been the same since I started coaching. Wins are great sure but....1) Compete 2) Not turn the ball over 3) TDs inside the 15 not FGs 4) Little to no penalties 5) No mental mistakes 6) Play hard and never give up

For me personally it is about winning games you are supposed to win and playing to a certain level. The most disappointing thing to me is HOW we lost certain games. Some games we look good and some games just flat out look awful. 3 or less losses is what I am looking for this season.
Having a mindset like this will do it to you. I couldn't believe this shit.

Hill-Green: "Schematically, they had a lot of answers. I gotta give [Curt] Cignetti his flowers. Listen, let me tell you once incidence -- they went their entire season, they loved to insert the tight end. Wherever I went, he inserted inside of me. So I was going to be wrong, regardless. I was going to be wrong on a lot of occasions. They had a lot of answers to what we did schematically. They had a lot of answers. Their running backs, like, they're the national champions."
