So what crosses your mind?

I know for many this year it is redemption, vengeance, or payback.

Though I am not just talking this year. I am talking more on your lifetime. What do you think most of when you hear Iron Bowl.

For some it may be. The Run in the Mud in 67' When Bama QB Kenny Stabler ran for a 53 yard TD and a 7-3 win.

Or in 81' when the Bear picked up his 315th victory to pass Amos Alonzo Stagg to become the all time winningest coach in Division 1-A with a 28-17 victory.

Or The Kick in 85' when the Tide drove 65 yards to set up a 52 yard FG by Van Tiffin as time expired giving Bama a 25-23 victory.

Maybe it was 94' in the Battle of the UnbeatensWhere a 10-0 Bama team defeated a 9-0-1 Auburn team 21-14, thus snapping Auburn's 21-game unbeaten streak.

Or 99' when Bama picked up their first win at Auburn 28-17.

For others whose opinion doesn't matter. It could be 72' with Punt Bama Punt. When Auburn blocked and scored on two Bama punts within 6 minutes to come from behind and win 17-16.

Or it could be that little streak they like to talk about. 9<6, but I digress.

For me I describe the Iron Bowl as a Holiday. Because all the family gets together. Usually grill some food and have a few brewsky's and cheer on the good guys. My first great memory though was the kick by Tiffin. I was 8 years old and was really learning the game. So it was probably the first time I really knew all that was going on. When I seen that ball go through the uprights it was a feeling I will never forget.

Hopefully this Saturday will give us another great memory not soon to be forgotten.

Honestly, the name Iron Bowl should be dropped since it left B-ham...but that's me.
No it not just you Terry.
Let not forget the '71 game in which Bama beat the Heisman winner. And anyone know who was the guy that came in second that year?(HINT: He went on to become an actor and was on shows, Laverne & Shirley’s,Hill Street Blue)

I think of all these big mouthed,no sense, dumbass barners, who enjoy being stupid. Then I think"Man, I hope we kill y'all come November"...

I agree with that, but the cowturds were the ones that really screwed it up cause they didn't wanna play us in Bham.

I've always agreed 100%. The significance of the name is due in large part to the city of Birmingham and the steel industry.

I always think of the game in 2001 when Andrew Zow played like the champion he is. I specifically remember him throwing a block on a draw play. He's still one of my favorites.

I was 12 yrs. old and was watching from my brand new Alabama bean bag.....and the feeling that I had when Tiffin hit the field goal...that was IMO the game of games...To me that is the first image that I think of when I hear "Iron Bowl" :)
