i would think that mike price would make the top two before shula. his legacy at bama was nice :lance:, i guess he did never lose a game though. :lol:

Im not to keen on hammering the guy though. While I wasnt a fan of some of his headcoaching decisions, he still was a great guy, and did his best for the school as an athlete and as a coach. You didnt have to worry about him pulling a Fran, a Mike Price, or any of the other fine actions we have named past coaches for.
Of course, it doesnt mean that the NCAA ruling makes his record pretty. Lol
And i dont blame Shula for this, since financial aide issues arent part of the headcoaches job description (unless you are Saban and want it to be) Its something that should fall on the heads of the atheletic dept i think.

My thoughts exactly.
Shula, to my knowledge, did not hire and oversee the Compliance Department and those assigned to perform the duties of that department.
That's an interesting statement.

I agree with Terry on his column for Crimson Tusks. The only two people that are to blame for this textbook deal is Jon Dever and Kevin Almond. Shula didn't have anything to do with it and neither did Coach Moore.
The idea that they got a letter into their employee file is ludicris to me. For soembody to to admit "I didn't do my job" and then only get a little letter is asnine. To be here for two of our glorious run ins with the NCAA COI is looney.

I agree totally about the employees involved. Absolutely embarassing that these two get no more than a slap on the wrist. If I was on the NCAA committee listening to this case I would very concerned with Alabama's actions regarding these two. It would show me that Alabama still isn't very concerned about doing things the right way. Swift and firm action toward them would go a long way with me.
Maybe this has been addressed and I haven't seen it since being out of town....why isn't anyone mentioning the players that actually did this? They had to know it was wrong. They may say one thing, but we all know when something we're doing isn't exactly on the up and up (even if everyone else is doing it!).
I'm not happy with their actions and the choices they made. I'm not happy that they get to get on with their million dollar careers while the university gives up 21 wins. I know the university played a part as well, but in my mind it's 50/50. And I don't know why we're not hearing anything about their accountability.

Saban is the right man for the job no qualms or doubts from this fan, but the kumba-ya crap has to stop! Mal Moore and Mke Shula and the pres. of the university was complicit in this! They were in charge when it happened period!! if anything,for being so naive to the reality that a 18 year old kid will not take advantage of a loop hole in our compliance dept. I was 18 once too...

How Terry? By sitting out 4 games in 2007? They sit our 4; we lose 21 wins; Alabama pays the $43,000+ fine. How did they pay their dues?

I totally agree delta it cost them nothing! and I believe 6 out of 7 got a degree from the the Univ. of Alabama how much did that cost tax payers?
Before anyone starts with look at how much revenue they created!
Check and see how much you spent on Bama games and gear and everything it cost to be a fan and times-x that by the millions of fans we have!

What you have to keep in mind Sandra is (this is what I'm told) this isn't over yet. While the NCAA has passed down the ruling to vacate wins, that's going to be appealed and I see a very good chance of the appeals committee over-ruling the COI's decision.
I suppose you see the suspensions as inadequate? That's the feeling I get.
What would you suggest should have happened?
It's my opinion that their suspensions were steeper than what was required. Michael Smith, the running back at Arkansas, was found to be involved in something just like this a few years ago.
His punishment was a suspension for one game and the University of Arkansas was given a secondary violation. (which is all the more reason UA should appeal.)

It doesn't cost you anything to be a fan other than an emotional investment. It's your choice, not a requirement, to spend money on apparel.

The Athletic Department is self sustaining. The scholarships offered to student athletes come from the coffers of the Ath. Dept. It'd doesn't cost the tax payers one single cent.
Whitt is a BBQ restaurant. And yes, you might deserve an apology from them considering if you like what they offer to eat.
Information on who you need to blame if you feel compelled to do so.
