bamaDelta, you make a good point about the timing and pressure of the Arkansas game every year. It's almost always our first SEC game, so that sort adds some implications to it. We've beaten them three years running, so we are probably running up against our longest streak against them now, since their joining the league in 1992. Not that it has anything to do with it. I do feel like we've essentially run in time with them since our winning the title in 1992, with the exception of since 2008, we've run well ahead of them, obviously. I'd be willing to bet our records overall, and in conference, are very close, excluding the 1992 and 2009 seasons. I'm sure there are a number of programs in the conference who have been consistently better than their program since 1992, but I don't think ours has CONSISTENTLY been better.
Just thinking back, without checking the records, I think we hold a sizeable series advantage since 1992. But again, there have been some very close games (with the notable exceptions of the past 2 years). In the three seasons I was at Alabama, they beat us twice. Although the 1995 edition was an officiating oversight.
It's a highwatermark for our program every year. If we beat them, which I think we will, handily, we usually go on to a great 10 win season or better. If we lose....it can go either way at that point. This years' Tide team won't be fazed by an upset somewhere along the way. We already have 3 wins in the bank, and I feel certain I can guarantee wins versus Ole Miss, Tennessee, Miss State, and Ga State. I'm less certain of Florida, SC, LSU, and Auburn, but see no reason why we can't win them all.
