šŸˆ ***Way too early Bama/Chokelahoma pregame Thread***

2nd, we haven't been playing well since Miss ST. That's 2 years in a row we have sort of limped to the finish line and coach Saban may have to review his practices and physically. Is it taking a toll?

To be fair... our competition level raises a bit as we come to the end of the year.

Our only real team we played in the front half was aTm and I wouldn't say that was one of our better games played... at least not on defense.

The end of the year consisted of a highly ranked LSU, MSU, UGA and a rivalry with aU which is always difficult regardless of rankings. So to say we came limping into the playoffs is not really an honest statement. We've been in the playoffs for 4 or 5 weeks now...

Let's also look at the other top playoff teams...

Clemson didn't exactly "Handle" USCe well
ND struggled with USCw and NW
Oklahoma barely got by OkySt and WVU and struggled with KU

So let's try to not read too much into this "end of year limping" thing.
Exactly..

We win by 5 scores.

Only bad thing about it is that "Big game Bob" won't be on the sideline to experience our vengeance from the Sugar Bowl loss a few years ago..

You're playing very well today, Sgt

Seriously...

Our entire defense has Tua's back. They're on a mission, as we speak, to shut Kyler down and prove to the world who the REAL Heisman should've been.

I'm willing to bet Chokelahoma won't break 20 while Tua drops 50+ on them by midway thru the 3rd quarter. Jalen will play about 20 snaps after that, hanging a couple more scores. Then Mac comes in to hand the ball off the last 5 mins of the game.

BOOM.

I will have one of whatever The Sgt is drinking....Terry will pickup the tab

What we know is UGA had a pretty good defense in 2017 and they had major trouble stopping the OU offense with Baker running the show. Murray is much quicker than Baker so that will be a real issue. This game plays out as can Bama's defense slow the OU offense down and hold them to less than 35-38 and can #13 get back to normal and get Bama to 40? The trend with #13 making many poor decisions needs to stop. The play he got hurt on early in the 1st qtr was a result of him making another poor decision and not throwing the ball away when he had a chance and then the sack.

Two thoughts here.

This game reminded me a lot of the Tennessee game. There were a lot of people talking about how his accuracy was off in that game. It was, to an extent. The thing about those observations is they were off base—based on the contest of where he was.

If you've ever been on the field level in Knoxville the first thing that'll shock you is the crown of the field. It's one of the highest in SEC play. It takes some adjustments.

It's all about the context.

Fast forward (or rewind?) to this past weekend...

One thing I'd recommend to one and all is watching the All-22 coverage on these games. It's amazing how clear some things appear when you have that view versus just coverage of the ball carrier.
Hard to say though that the field required any adjustment from Fromm. Kid was lights out from the very outset!

The throwing lanes for Tua will be a little broader against OU than they were against Georgia. With that said OU offense is really good. Do not know how you honestly shut them down. Slow them down yes but not shut them down.

It's not an accurate comparison. Fromm's yards per attempt was likely between seven and eight. As I recall, they only had three, maybe four, explosive plays and even in those the passes only traveled 10-12 yards in the air.

i guess i'm going to hang my neck out here and create some locker room inspiration for the Okies. I know he just won the Heisman, but y'all.... he just played through an entire schedule of awful defenses. A mid tier SEC school like Ole Miss has a better D than most of the schedule they just saw. He is a good player, but I have watched them play a couple of times. I think that, under pressure, he will make too many mistakes and the one-man show of Oklahoma's offense will unravel. If our secondary can cover them pretty well man, I think this gets ugly for them. In the spirit of the late George H. W. Bush, "Read my lips.... NO NEW TOUCHDOWNS!"

There will be some big plays. He is a Heisman winner, right? BUt consistent drives and 30+ points... I don't think so.

I heard someone say the other day that Bama’s defense only needs to stop them twice from scoring because their defense likely can’t stop Alabama’s offense once.
Unfortunately, we have a way of stopping our selves on offense more so than any team has stopped us...

That being said. I would expect OU to get points. I also expect UA to get points. Will come down to if we can control the clock with the run game AND turnovers/mistakes.

Make no mistake, OU can win this game, just like if we make it to the next round the team we would play being ND or Clemson can win the game. We are not playing any crappy teams...

I remember a winner that didn't do any great plays again Bama! "When I saw the confusion in his eyes, I knew we had him," Copeland said of Torretta.

That dude is completely full of shit.

Everybody said the same thing about Ole Miss' "High-powered" offense testing Alabama. Ole Miss would be undefeated in the Big12 because NO ONE plays defense there.

It's CHOKELAHOMA that hasn't really been tested defensively all year, save for Army. And Army's defense PALES across the board to ours.. And ARMY... ARMY had Chokelahoma on the ropes..

I'll say it again.. OU will be LUCKY to break 20..And we'll hang 50.

i just want the guys to do one thing for this game (and hopefully another one)...

i just want them to play for themselves

don't do it for the coaches
don't do it for the fans
don't do it for their families

just go out and do it for themselves....for the team...for each others

they've been through a lot this year with injuries, coming out firing on all 12 cylinders, then blowing a couple cylinders and having to do some work later on (SECCG) to get to where they are. and i just want them to play for themselves. go out...do what they do best...and no one, NO ONE, can stop them.
