247's Barton Simmons take:
"I noted in my other note yesterday that I like Hurts' mentality. His all-business approach. I think that's big. But there's a lot of other things to like about Hurts. For one, he's a big strong kid. He's probably about 6-2.5, he's thick and strong, will be able to take a pounding but he's also really athletic obviously. Here's the thing though and I noticed in the other thread that there's maybe some doubts about the take by Alabama? Let me say this, if you're comparing Hurts to Jawon Pass, there is no question whatsover that Hurts is the more advanced passer at this stage. It's not even close. Pass may have more upside because he isn't very polished as a passer and he is bigger and he's athletic but Hurts is plenty big enough and may be even more athletic. I really think HUrts will emerge as one of the better QBs in this class and he was one of my favorite QBs on Saturday. Hurts has a really high release, he has a great base inside the pocket and he he made a couple of the day's more impressive throws on the run yesterday."
On Sunday, they will add a defense to the equation and force the QBs to go through progressions, make the correct reads and beat defenders. With a good day on Sunday (the more important day of the two), I think Hurts should get a finals invite.
