🏈 Was Bama's Schedule Soft?

The Notre Dame fan base is convinced that Alabama played a soft schedule and competed against only three good teams: A and M, Georgia, and LSU. Furthermore, they think the Tide not only lost one of those but should have lost the other two.

I point back to the Michigan game comparison, but the argument is difficult to refute. Bama could have lost three games this year. It does seem like the SEC is down a bit this year.

How do we respond as a fan base to this speculation? Let the game get here and kick their heads in?

I'm getting to where I hate Notre Dame even more.

We beat their ass and admit to a light schedule with them being part of it.

.. So how come Michigan is always included in their 'strong' games yet not for us? Michigan was considered pretty good coming into the season and by the time ND played them they were already 2-2 lol.

We played a ranked Miss State team, opened with Michigan, and Arkie was supposed to be a good game except Wilson was out when we played them .. Woulda been a stronger schedule with that.

I think we had a slightly (but not by much) stronger schedule than ND. We also blew out who we were supposed to blew out, as opposed to them struggling vs. some of their 'easiest' opponents. Pitt, BYU, and Purdue?

We also had a vengeful LSU at their home (one of the toughest away venues in college football, not to mention we had just shut them out in the championship so they were BLOODTHIRSTY) .. That is worth 2 tough games in my opinion hahah.

Let's be real here. Our schedule wasn't as tough as it has been in the recent past...nothing we can do about it. Now, it wasn't exactly weak either, and if someone is using our SOS to try to convince themselves that ND will beat us because their SOS is that much tougher than our's they're looking in the wrong place. I think any rational ND fan would admit that their schedule isn't much different than our's, in reference to difficulty. Matter of fact, I'd say with confidence that our's was tougher...but then again, I might be slightly biased. :bluebiggrin:

Also, I'd say the SEC is stronger across the board this year than last year. We don't have the top tier teams like we did last year, with us and LSU...but who the hell does. This year we're deeper.

I don't agree with this. The east was much better this year, with UGA and UF both finishing 7-1 (in conference). USCjr was 6-2 with both losses coming in back to back weeks against UF and LSU. The West had us at 7-1 with aTm and LSU finishing 6-2.

While that may not seem like much, that is almost half the league that had a shot at winning the SEC. The past 3-4 years we only have had 2 teams at best that were really good. 2008 and 2009 UF and UA were head and shoulders above the rest of the league. 2010 daBarn and UArk were arguably the 2 best teams. 2011 no question that LSU and UA was it. While we may not be as good as we were in 2011, I think the rest of the league stepped it up a bit this year. I will also add that I think that CNS has probably done his best job of coaching this year since being at the capstone. This team, while talented, was inexperienced (much like 2010) but the team seemed more mentally prepared to handle the adversity as opposed to the 2010 team.

We did have sort of a soft schedule but its mean nothing. Doesn't suddenly make Alabama a weak team, just that ND played better competition.

ND fans always resort back to this cause in their head they think having the best schedule means you're the best team. Sounds similar to LSU fans last year.

If you look at it team by team, Auburn, Arkansas, Tennessee and Missouri all ended up significantly weaker than expected. Miss. St, LSU were about as expected. OM and aTm were significantly better.

Give ND their due for beating OU at Norman. That is certainly no more significant than our win over LSU in Baton Rouge. The relative Michigan games speak for themselves. As far as "could have lost" games, how about ND's games with Stanford, Pitt, Purdue, the weakest USCw team in years.

Not a soft schedule at all. ND would have two or three losses if they had are schedule.

Even if our schedule was soft the bottom line is were playing them in the NC game. Let them debate our 'soft' schedule and once we beat them they can debate what went wrong.

Add more fuel to the fire with Clemson beating LSU. Yea we had very weak schedule and are very lucky to even be in the game. Heck we are lucky to be even playing football this year. Those teams we beat up on were not that good. and last year didn't Ga Southern score more point on us than anyone. And the SEC does beat up on each other too much and doesn't let other conferences compete. most of the pundits at ESPN & Lou Holtz even says that the Tirish are going to beat us because it is their turn. The politicians have raised our taxes and we can't afford to win this year. Heck our fan base is tired of winning and our team and coach is bored with winning. 15 NC would cause us to be put in another category by the NCAA to equal out and be fair to the other teams. They will start another category of NC that we can't compete in cause we are too good. Our team will not be prepared for the flash of gold on the Tirish helmets. They just look richer. Besides the Pope will be with them.
