Not a big fan of Walk of Champions. I don't need to get there hours early and squeezed into hundreds of folks just to be ignored.
Hope you enjoy it though.
I guess I understand the "put on your professional, going-to-work face", but that does run counter to what the University seems to have had in mind when conceiving the Walk of Champions. Its feels less like "welcome our champion Gladiator" and more "Lets go down to the paddock and watch the horse walk to the gates". I feel like I should have a Mint Julip and my Wife a huge ugly hat.
Couldn't we do something meaningful like a
Big Roll Tide that doesn't stop until all the buses are off loaded, or sing the alma mater? I swear, I fear someday I will see Joan Rivers there doing commentary on things like Julio's bow-tie or asking Cody who he's wearing ("Omar, the tent maker" is the reply by the way.)
I don't understand why the players couldn't shake a few hands, give a high-five to the kids, heck, sing the alma mater with us (I have to learn it too, along with the rest of you). Its 2 and 15 minute hours before kick off. One could drive to Montgomery on a normal day in that time. THERE'S TIME TO FOCUS AFTERWARDS, or they could arrive 2 and a hlf hours early.
I honestly do fear that this "tradition" will die off from lack of enough interest if something does not change. A sad thought considering the investment in the actual Walk of Champions and the event's potential.
