In 2013, the NCC and our friends from the Richmond Chapter are happy to announce that we are reviving the Bama license plate campaign! The Virginia DMV requires us to collect and then submit, all at once, at least 350 paid applications before they will start the process of stamping out the tags. For a number of years we have been trying to get there, but we are only half way with around 170 applications.
Given the difficulty in collecting all of that money up front, we have decided to change tactics. For the time being, we need all of you who have not sent us an application to do so. After we have 350+ applications, we will then request your prompt payment and will submit it in one lump sum to the DMV.
Here are a few points to consider:

- We already have received sign-off from the University and DMV on the design.
- Once we have collected more than 350 paid applications, we will submit one check to the DMV, along with our tag design.
- The price is $25 per tag, plus an additional $10 if you currently have or want personalized tags. Total maximum cost: only $35.
- After submission, we are at the mercy of the DMV process. Their documentation states that it could take up to 4-6 months from that point… although we hope that it won’t take that long. Please be patient, and know that we will be in touch with DMV and will be prodding them along, as gently and effectively as we can.
- Please send your application form (Form VSA10) as soon as possible to the address provided below, as we want to get this process “rolling” again. The form can be found at http://www.dmv.virginia.gov/webdoc/pdf/vsa10.pdf.
