I think Vegas knows what is going to happen in this game. The line will continue to widen and suck people into betting on Tech...and they will lose.

This game is going to be a beatdown.

I am feeling it. Tech's Rb situation is getting dire. They will get *some* yards through the air, but it would not surprise me if they have less than 200 yards total offense.

Beatdown.

I haven't felt this good about a game since Arkansas last season.

Hokie fans can cry out for respect, but their OL is not good. Their RB situation is bad. Their QB can't throw. Their 1's are good on defense, but Bama will own the ball and by the 4th quarter Tech will be out of gas on D.

Trickle down coming week after next.
 
At first glance this game looks like a tough matchup. Two well known teams and both in the top ten.

BUT after you dig and do a little research the matchups seem to be mostly in one teams favor. This game won't be close if Bama can prevent TT from scrambling and picking up third downs with his legs.

My prediction.

Bama 34

VT 13


FWIW, You never know how teams will play. VT could beat Bama if Bama shows up expecting VT to lay down.

Vegas doesn't know jack about what is going to happen in this game. All they know is how much money is being bet. If the line is rising, it is because more money is being bet on Bama than VT. Their object is to have an even amount bet on both. In order to do that in this case is to raise the line so that more is bet on VT and less on Bama.

The line is Bama minus 6 right now. It will most likely go above 7 by game time. Just remeber one thing, VEGAS does not give away money, I give more attention to the Vegas lines than I do the polls. Also, Alabama is returning only 4 starters on offense. Offense is bama's big ? mark, Bama's Defense is going to be hell on wheels. :a::a::a: ROLLLLLL TIDE

I would dare to disagree with you. Of course they raise and lower the line depending on placement of the bets. ( Done even more so by local bookies).
But if Vegas is so stupid and it is so easy. We all would quit our jobs and go be millionaires off of Vegas betting. :smile:

252 is correct. Vegas sets the line with intent of getting even amounts bet on each side. When more money is going on one side the line is moved accordingly. If Vegas gets even action on both sides they collect th 10% juice money on all the losses. Thus they cant lose.

Don't know Core? I'd like to get Randy doing them but he's been so tied up at work for months now, that I don't know that he'll have time. I'll talk to him about it.

You made reference about Vegas 'not knowing Jack'...so, it seems reasonable that Vegas is easy money by that statement. Truth of matter is...NO ONE knows jack about the game. And if 'anyone' does know 'jack' about the game. Vegas has them in thier pocket before any regular guy or any forum. :smile:

You must have misread. my comment is still posted. Anyone who knows bets or has bet, knows EVERY bookie, including myself, want even money. We collect the 'juice' which I charge 10 percent of your bet.

I can guarantee u that Bama does not score 34 points. U must be outside ur mind. You are breaking in a new quarterback and 3 starters on the O-line and u expect to score 34 points on a perennial top 10 defense year in and year out? GTFO

I've looked at last years statistics and I'm not that impressed. Clemson ranked very close to VT in ALL major defensive categories. We all know how last years Clemson game turned out.

Oh I didn't say that Bama's offense would score 34 :no-no: I said Bama would score 34. :td:

Assuming that both teams improve equally (unlikely though, since Alabama was the youngest team in D1 last season and the offense should show more improvement in the second season under Jim McElwain - the defense returns 9 starters and a ton on the 2 deep)...

...Fantasy is thinking that an offense consisting of a mediocre offensive line (upgraded from bad last season), a walking wounded RB corp, along with a QB who is an overglorified WR, stands a chance against what will likely be the best defense in college football.

Clemson 2008 was a better match-up...only they had better return men. The defenses are comparable, though Clemson was probably a little better last season. VT averaged giving up about a half point less per game, but Clemson played a tougher schedule.

I keep reading Tech posts that stats don't tell the story about Taylor, yet the fact remains that he has not performed at a consistently high level. It was a minor miracle that Tech only lost 4 games last season...3 of them were to unranked teams. Tech had 3 wins by a fieldgoal, and another by a single touchdown.


You guys had less then 300 yards of total offense on WESTERN FREAKING KENTUCKY. We had more than that in the first half! I guess you could say that you were looking ahead to BC the next game, but you LOST that game. Glennon was the only passing threat you had. Beamer is searching for anothe Mike Vick, but I have news for you...Tyrod Taylor ain't him. He is fast, but we have played against fast QB's.

I will be surprised if Tech has over 200 yards of offense against us. The only time Tech will cross the goal line will running on and off of the field.


VT is probably the second most overrrated team (behind Ole Miss) going into 2009. You don't have to like it, but it is true.
