Well said my friend....

My wife's family all went to Utah, cousins, uncles, mom, etc. I can tell you this much, they do not handle winning very well. They beat us good no doubt, but enough already.

I am sick of watch this MWC douche spout off about how unfair the BCS is. Win year in and year out and we will let you sit at the grown up table, a la the Big East. Otherwise, shut it. I would love to play the Utes again.

He did say that this was going to be smack...so take it for what it is worth

"What is up with everybody this week? It’s as if the floodgates of bad taste have opened, and out comes all this nasty rhetoric like salt-encrusted, rotting sewage spilling from the Great Salt Lake into tailing ponds. I know it’s 100 degrees and climbing outside, but can we ease up on the smack talk?
The answer to my own question is, no, we cannot. So let the fun begin!
Now it seems Urban Meyer, former Ute and current Florida head football coach (until a private plane whisks him away to safety, or Notre Dame) told an Alabama newspaper what they want (and need) to hear.
He eased their precious little hearts by telling Alabama fans bleeding Crimson Tide on their shirts that the team that kicked their ass (Utah) is really not good enough to be in the conference in which the Tide currently play, the SEC.
That must have been a soothing remedy to Tide fans, especially after watching their beloved Crimson Tide have their butts handed to them in such a laughingstock fashion in the Sugar Bowl.
The only thing missing from Meyer’s speech was, ā€œOh, don’t worry, Alabama, it will all be okay, I promise,ā€ which is something I would tell my five-year-old. Maybe Alabamans just need a hug.
In my opinion, Tide fans need to get over the fact that they and the BCS were embarrassed on national television, had a mockery made of this absolutely ridiculous pairing of two teams that were not even remotely evenly matched, and forget their insipid reasoning for losing to an undefeated team like Utah, a team that should have been playing Florida."

But I still don't like it:swear:

I've never heard of this guy.

No, Utah wouldn't contend for an SEC title anytime soon. But neither would most teams, including current BCS teams.

Utah doesn't want to be compared to Oklahoma or USC, because we wouldn't come close. But try comparing us to, say, Cal or Pittsburgh. I think most would consider them average to above-average BCS teams. I'd take our resume over theirs.

And we'd be happy to schedule big-time schools for a home-and-home. Too bad none of them return our calls.

Plain and simple, some can't handle a little success. I have no doubt that if that game were in the middle of the season, Alabama would win 9 times out of ten. Utah had an excellent season, and had a very good team, but it was the perfect storm.

Try the FSU approach. Bobby Bowden, when he took over that program (they were an independent then) played all the big boys. He took home and home when he could get it, if not he'd just take one home and two away or even all away. After a few seasons of succeeding at this level he could get the attractive home and home arrangements that he wanted. But for a long time he was a regular visitor to places like Columbus, South Bend, Baton Rouge, etc.

They will quit their yapping when they lose 3 or 4 games this season. The Sugar bowl was a perfect storm, but Utah lost too much. TCU, BYU, Oregon, and maybe Louisville will get them this year. Air Force might as well.

2-2 in September is a possibility.

Louisville? Really? Not only is Utah guaranteed money against BCS teams at Rice-Eccles, the Cardinals are on a steep decline.

I think you guys are selling Utah short. They whipped us in every facet of the game (with the exception of a punt return....thus really making the whipping worse)

They matched our speed (yes thats right) that were better prepared and they kicked us in the teeth.

You can laugh at a close win @ New Mexico (cough cough home game against Tulane/Kentucky) Every school has these games. Going to Mich in the first week is certainly no easy task!

The Mtn West has shown its a pretty damn strong conference 3-0 in BCS games with wins against Oklahoma and a domination of Bama.
I say they deserve to be running their yappers.

His column was a little over the top, causing me to respond on their site. Some of the adjectives to describe their win shows me this guy is in love with that game and won't let go. They were better prepared and executed, at least in the first quarter, to perfection. But jeez, act like you have been there before.....oh wait, they haven't.

And also, I'd love to have that schedule one year. But if we go undefeated with it, we won't go to the BCS champ game, just like Utah.

Utes need 3-4 ,more years of kicking ass and taking names, in season and post season, and they will get to the stature of the big boys. A season in the sun doesn't make you the king of the world/SEC.

Utah has been a better program than Bama the last 8 to 9 years. They have won 2 BCS games and gone undefeated twice!

And again, look at the schedules. I give them all the credit in the world from last year. Yes they went undefeated which is a strong task at hand regaurdless of who you play. But, week in and week out, they just would not make it in the SEC. Period !

Louisville? Really? Not only is Utah guaranteed money against BCS teams at Rice-Eccles, the Cardinals are on a steep decline.

If you didn't notice, Louisville was a "maybe" comment. It may be unlikely, but is possible. Louisville returns a number of key players on offense, while Utah has some big holes to fill. It is an early season game. Kragthorpe has to perform in 2009 or he will be shown the door.

It may be a stretch, but Louisville does have some talent on the field. They ended the season horribly in 2008, but that same team also knocked off USF.

Johnson, Brown, Casteel, Mack, and Godfrey are gone from Utah's offense. Asiata is back, but the Utes don't have a proven QB, and Johnson was special. The OL should be solid, but how will they do if all they can do is run?

The defense will be solid with 8 starters back, but will the offense ans special teams help them in September? The Utes have a lot of questions going into the 2009 season, and if I were a Ute fan or writer, I would not be talking smack in advance.

I see them losing 3 games - maybe 4.

You can laugh at me, but SJSU is a trap game for them...

Opening road game of the season
SJSU was 6-6 in 2008
SJSU returns 7 starters on both sides of the ball
Utah has Oregon the next week

When you see the name you think "gimme," SJSU opens with USC. Dick Tomey is a good enough coach, and SJSU and has enough experience returning to use what happens in a beneficial manner.

Utah will be ok in 2009, but I don't see any way they can repeat their undefeated season.

Amazing they are still talking about this game.

Bama seemed to take the Shula prep for the game.

There was a shot of RJ where he looked like a deer in headlights. The team was not ready. The Utes stomped Bama, but it is over and by no means does it belong as a basis of why they should have played for the NC. As big as our named seems to be in football, Bama still needs to learn one thing. BRING IT EVERY WEEK. I do not give a crap if you are playing a school for the D&B. I had to pause and think, "Did the team not learn from the Tulane game?" I also had to remember the state of Bama football for the past ten years and take it as a stepping stone. Last year regardless of the last game was breath of fresh air.

My point..

The look on RJ told me all I needed to know. The team was not ready to play.
