These forums are on the national level and some are just other team sites like LSU and Ok. State.

Fellow Crimson Tide fans, you have already met the enemy and yes, it's you. As a matter of fact, it's all things Alabama. You probably already knew that though, didn't you “Bammer”?

Look, I appreciate the effort that has been put in by the Alabama faithful to dare defend their rights to be in the BCS National Championship game but no one is hearing you, “ya stupid Gumps”. Don't you have better things to do like “string lights from your trailer” (oh, that's right. you never took them down) or don't you have some “Toomers Oaks to poison”? Yet you “Fighting Updykes” still do it. You go out to other message boards not adorned in Alabama Crimson and expect them to love up on you “like your sister did for you on your prom”. Let me ask you a simple question, HAVE YOU LOST YOUR DAMN MIND???

Let’s look at a little Crimson Tide history, shall we? The hate goes back a very long time.

When the Crimson Tide made its way to the Rose Bowl for the very 1st time after the 1925 season, no one gave them a chance. They didn't belong in the presence of the Washington Huskies and this game was almost set up to prove it. The old eastern powerhouses sneered at Alabama representing the "East" in the Grandaddy of all bowls. You think perceptions of the state of Alabama are bad now, can you only imagine what they were like in 1925? Despite being told that Alabama didn't belong, Coach Wallace Wade marched his gritty team into the Rose Bowl and the Huskies came out and promptly put a 12-0 spot on the Tide as Wade took his team to halftime. After a rousing halftime speech, the Crimson Tide came out in the second half and put up 20 unanswered points. The Huskies could only muster one more TD and the Tide won, unexpectedly, 20-19 and southern football was officially on the map. The national media reported the victory as a certain fluke and the game did nothing but piss everyone off outside of the dirty south. The following season, Alabama was invited back to the Rose Bowl, largely to quieten those once humble southern voices that were suddenly loud and proud.

In the 1926 Rose Bowl, Bama faced what many considered as quite possibly one of the best teams ever assembled in college football history, the Stanford Cardinal! Sound familiar? No one gave Alabama a chance. The game played out like many anticipated. The Cardinal had held BAMA to a measly 98 yards of offense while the Cardinal racked up over 300 yards but BAMA only trailed 7-0. I am sure you have heard of the infamous "Punt BAMA Punt" game. We didn't need two punts, just one. That one punt that BAMA blocked occurred late in the game and propelled Alabama to move within one point of the Cardinal. Before Stanford could get set, Alabama lined up and "quick-kicked" the extra point to send the game to a 7-7 draw. "Blasphemy! Trickery I tell ya! It's the only way Alabama can stay in these types of games" the media would write. It was, however, Alabama's 2nd MNC.

It's a funny thing, history. You have to know where you have been to know where you are going. Alabama is doing no less than what it did in 1925. It's winning. It's winning on a regular basis. People outside the program want to see us defeated. People wish failure upon us. That's ok. Bama's pluck and grit has written her name in Crimson Flame. Remember the Rose Bowl? Guess what? We still count those two National Championships among our others. Don't get upset when people hate us. It's our heritage. It's our history. Learn from it!
