Last season defending National Champion Florida, despite having the Heisman Trophy winner, could not repeat as SEC champion much less National Champion.

LSU, despite being twice beaten, soundly put away OSU who was benefiting from having been there just the year before.

Point: The SEC is so tough that the best of the best can't beat our Champion, and yet our Champions do not separate themselves from the rest of us. THIS IS SEC FOOTBALL.

Repeating is supremely difficult, and it looks as thought LSU has a mountain to do so. Georgia seems to be the favorite, by only a nose if that with a brutal schedule.

We have toyed with the idea that a third SEC team could spank the Buckeyes again this year. With OSU still strong and USC with an unproven QB, the Dawgs could do just that if they take care of business.

Putting the cart WAY before the horse, it can not be ruled out that an unheard of stretch could be underway right now. Come 2009, Bama may be due up. Could it be that one conference could win 4 NC in a row with 4 different teams?

Its pie-in-the-sky at this point, but what a possibility.

Although I agree with you, I think this year is OSU's best chance at beating an SEC team in the NCG. According to some OSU fan's I've seen on some forums, last year's team was supposedly a rebuilding year for them. They said this year was supposed to be the year for one of their title runs.

I would personally love to see OSU lose to Georgia or Florida this year, USC next year, and Alabama the year after :D

I'm to the point that I'm rooting for OSU to make it to the National Championship Game just so they can lose to an SEC team.

Am I correct in thinking that part of the hype before the OSU vs LSU match up was that OSU had never won a bowl game vs. the SEC?

Hopefully, USC will still be on probation then.

I fully agree with you, but you know and I know the NCAA won't let that happen . That, and I can't think of a SEC team that will be a downright standout among other SEC teams next year.

So, we are thinking Ohio state is gonna 3-peat this year? I wonder how that would look on their football resume?

The Ohio State University....the only school to lose 3 straight National Championship games to an SEC team!!!

That's kinda catchy, huh?

Did they say this before or after the BCS Title game?

I wouldn't dismiss LSU just yet. It seems they have hit a streak where most things (both in their control and out of their control)go their way. Who would have thunk in this day and age of the BCS that a team could lose TWO games as late in the season as LSU did and still end up in the title game? To make it even more amazing is that a 3-8 Pitt team (that was utterly awful) beat an offensive powerhouse of WVU in their home stadium. The game was suppose to be just a formality.

LSU is in the golden years of their football program, unprecedented ground. Their recruiting is getting better and Miles has shown to make good decisions as to his staff. There's a good chance in 08 and even greater chance in 09 that they could be playing for the BCS Title again.
