I just watched a Highlight video of Prothro...what an amazing young man! Could someone please tell me how he's doing and what he is doing these days? I live 6 hours away in Western Tn, so I would appreciate some info! Best Wishes and God Bless you Tyrone! You're in our Hearts Forever....Prothro you're a True Champion and I know you will Succeed in Whatever you decide for you're Life and Future! :td:

Gotta put on a sweatshirt after that one.....so emotional.

Wonder who will run out the ball this weekend. Shaun Alexander? Prothro? Hmmmm, how about Antonio Langham? :a:

I'm thinking it's Stallings...maybe, Stallings plus a player. In that case, I'd say Shaun.

If you don't recall Sandra, Stallings is being honored at the game for his induction into the College Football Hall of Fame Saturday. It's in conjunction with the College Football Foundation and something they are calling the "on Campus Salute."

Stallings is the Florida game right?

I read somewhere that his leg broke before that play and he kept playing - is that true? I just recently read it somewhere or heard it somewhere.

Someone posted it here in a previous thread. I believe the response was he had told a teammate he felt a pop in his ankle on the play before but tried to play through it. I can't imagine how much morphine they had to give that young man to clean grass off the tip of his broken bone.

It would be nice to see Stallings back in Tuscaloosa Saturday. I always liked Coach Stallings. I spent a lot of time down there at Fan Days and such when I was younger with the old man and I've never met a nicer man than Coach Stallings. It didn't matter how long the line for his autograph was. He took the time to talk with you, pose for pictures, etc. It never felt rushed. He may not have given a damn about anyone he was talking to but you'd never know it from listening to his interactions with people. I still have a picture in an album somewhere that my mom took of Coach Stallings at A-Day. He had left the foot print ceremony and hopped in a car. She waved at him and held her camera up; he asked his driver to stop the car, opened the door and posed for a picture. He was a class guy. I had the misfortune of watching his last regular season game as Alabama's head coach--I still have nightmares watching Takeo Spikes stand and watch as Dennis Riddle caught the slip screen and stepped into the endzone.

Prothro would've been a hell of a return man in the NFL. He had a knack for finding the open field and had an extra gear that you rarely see. There were plays where it looked like a defender had him dead to rights and he somehow got around the corner. I took my nephew to meet him at Parkway Place Mall (Huntsville) sometime about two years ago I think. He's a nice guy--very shy. We talked about the aftermath of a repair like that. I've had a pretty major knee surgery (albeit no where near what he endured--no where near) so I could kind of empathize. He seems very humble--classy guy.

Heard an interview on the JOX Round Table with Prothro this morning. Still a class act.
He said he is currently living in T-Town and working at Regions bank.

Yea, there was a story on him today.

Tyrone Prothro was pretty much the best receiver we have ever had IMO

I mean, Julio is really really good, tyrone prothro was insane steve smith in his prime good.

You know, I ;wouldnt mind winning this game for the prothro, infact, any time florida comes to BDS

If any of you folks want to get a shot at meeting Tyrone Prothro, one of my buds owns a framing shop and will have his tent set up down off of Bryant Drive, with Mr. Prothro doing autographs on Saturday. Forgive me for not knowing the exact time, or if the autographs are free, which I think they might be, but that one awesome print of Pro making that catch over the USM player would be might nice autographed!!!!

Shameless plug, I suppose, for Beveled Edge. Go see them on Bryant Drive on Saturday!

I will never forget that day either...my wife and I lived in western ky and decided to take our 2 kids, 8 and 12. I was such a wonderful family day.and we were so excited about the add whoopin' Bama was putting on Florida, then the Horrific Injury! We were just sick after that and my.wife was so pissed off because they robbed Prothro of a TD! He had control of the ball even when his leg was at a 90 degree angle. I don't know how much talk there's been about that but he was robbed! What a great young man. Sorry, but Julio couldn't carry Prothro's water. Seems like every game Julio has several chances for a long td and he mis judges and slows up or it goes right through.his hands. I know he's good but I think he misses more than he catches. He should be averaging 2-3 td's a game based on the throws to him.
