šŸ“ Tyler Harrell, UL WR, officially announces he'll attend Alabama

I don't know; just guessing here. That sounds like someone caught up in the Boutte rumors from several weeks ago. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

Either he comes and I’ll talk about it or this summer he won’t and I’ll tell all the details. I ain’t gonna be the reason this gets blown up because of some random Reddit post. Give it until June and either he will be on campus or I’ll explain to you why he didn’t come in January like they anticipated and why he wasn’t able to come this summer.
If I thought this was common knowledge amongst the program I’d go ahead and say it, but my contacts that work for bon appetite, in compliance, and the media department for the team haven’t given me any reason that they know.

Look, I'm all for not throwing your sources out there to get ramrodded by others, but with where college football is at, don't act like there is just something SO crazy going on where you can't spill the beans after opening your fat mouth about something "this big". Nothing surprises anyone anymore with what programs are doing to get kids. Even tampering with a recruit means zero anymore as coaches are admitting it happens right now anyways. This guy just sounds like he wants some attention and is garnering whatever attention he can get from others.

This is last time I'll address this. Do I believe him? Eh. I think this is more for attention. If a person is interested in coming to Alabama... then Doing due diligence before entering transfer isn't tampering, because a NIL Agent, family friends can reach out to another school for him to get a feeler...
Which Reminds me... @TerryP Inboxing you now.

Louisville transfer Tyler Harrell is expected to visit Alabama this weekend, according to multiple reports. The incoming junior entered the transfer portal earlier this week after spending two seasons on the field with the Cardinals.

The six-foot, 194-pound wide receiver averaged 29.1 yards per catch last season on just 18 receptions. Harrell finished with a total of 523 yards and six touchdowns, with all but one of his scores coming against conference opponents. Before the 2021 season, Harrell had only appeared in four games, split between 2018 and 2019. He did not see game action during the 2020 season.

I am just telling you that recruiting is a tuff business and missing on players happen to the very best. I believe you can have a really good football team with 55-60 players on your roster.

If a player isn't playing meaningful snaps after his 1st two years, then chances are he will never start at Bama. ( always some exceptions but)
You also have to take into account that if a coach "hits" on someone, he's more likely to "miss" on someone.

Was Drew Sanders a miss, or did hitting on Will Anderson & Dallas Turner keep him from seeing the field?

Hitting on Koolaid is going to "force" 2 other misses....

Guys just aren't going to wait 3-4 years to play anymore. Now if you have a position where the talent hasn't panned out at the typical CNS/UA NFL level, then missing becomes more of a realistic outlook. But CNS hasn't truly missed at many positions over the years.

You know, I'm wondering if you end up with some college kids who might be longshots for the NFL staying four or five years to keep the NIL money flowing, and then perhaps opting out of playing professional due to health concerns. Also, I wonder what the insurance might be to insure an NIL interest in case of injury during college. I'm also curious about how some of the NIL hooks are worded. Someone mentioned the aTm NIL money indicated that the student had to be enrolled at either aTm or perhaps just mentioned College Station. It is not supposed to require them to play football. Ostensibly, a kid could quit the team, remain enrolled and still get the NIL. Or maybe a kid goes to the NFL early but maintains an online enrollment at their school to keep NIL going.

All sorts of questions.

Nice pickup. So who is leaving? This is one of those unintended consequences of free agency. One, kids don't stick around anywhere long enough to learn and become better at their craft, and two, kids who were highly recruited but don't perform well enough are easily replaced. It's not really worth following recruiting anymore because that 5 star that everyone is so excited about probably won't be playing for your team long anyway. What a world.

Bama fans, worth keeping an eye on Utah tight end Dalton Kincaid. Not offficially in portal yet.

This from Twitter. Same guy who posted Harrell new.

Saw this posted on the rant about the TE Utah......

quote:

Rick Neuheisel just said on his radio show that Alabama (or someone representing them) offered Utah's TE, $1 million to transfer to Bama-- rumors are that they offered an even more lucrative deal to Notre Dame TE, Michael Mayer.

On a serious note, as of a few weeks ago there was roughly 40 million pledged to High Tide Traditions for all sports.

I could see something with my own eyes and if Neuheisel said he saw the same thing I'd call bullshit. If he called for the sun to come up tomorrow, I'd prepare for "The Long Night."

While the tight end position is somewhat of a need, this doesn't pass the logic test. He's a receiver, yes. He's not a good blocker. Alabama's "need" here is for an in-line tight end. He's not.

He's not in OJ's class in terms of talent and it defies logic for Saban to offer that kind of incentive, for one season, when he lacks the blocking portion of the game.

I am old and need to be put out in the pasture but paying a college player one million is so wrong. Having watched the 1st round show last night I have already started to pullback from the game that was so special. Just need to get out of the way.
