šŸˆ TX A&M regent cites Kevin Sumlin's coaching ability, 'arrogance' in rant about wanting to fire him

After Texas A&M fell to UCLA 45-44, university regent Tony Buzbee aired his frustrations with the Aggies in a Facebook post saying "my vote will be that Kevin Sumlin needs to GO," if the times comes.

I'm sure I may be criticized for this post but I honestly don't care. I've been on the Board of Regents for the A&M System for almost seven years. During that time, I've not once commented on Kevin Sumlin and his performance during his tenure at our school. I never said a word when he and his agent manipulated a much bigger and longer contract. I said nothing about his arrogance and his mishandling of multiple player controversies. I said nothing when we had multiple awesome recruiting classes, only to see key players leave our school or underperform. But tonight I am very disappointed and I have to say this. Kevin Sumlin was out-coached tonight, which isn't new. He recruits well, but can't coach the big games, or close the games. Our players were better tonight. Our players were more talented tonight. But our coaches were dominated on national TV, yet again. I'm only one vote on the Board of Regents but when the time comes my vote will be that Kevin Sumlin needs to GO. In my view he should go now. We owe it to our school and our players. We can do better.

Buzbee took to social media after Sunday's contest, posting his thoughts on Sumlin's situation. The Aggies initially led 44-10 before blowing the 34-point lead. The Bruins scored 35 unanswered points in a 16:23 span.

That was a brutal ending for any team, much less with an Aggie team that have lost their fair share of shootouts. What is Chavis doing as DC over there? This just doesn't look like his kind of football team anymore. Again, that was a brutal ending.

In a sense A&M with Sumlin reminds me of UA with Shula.

We're seeing them get pushed around--last night by a team most would call a finesse team, right? Where's the lines we see in the SEC? They surely aren't in College Station.

Why Shula? I remember how relaxed they were with kids and the S&C program. Ben Pollard, as one example, was a hell of a S&C coach but he was handcuffed by guys like Con.

To me, it seems like that's exactly what's happening at A&M. Have we seen any development from any player down there? Garrett didn't improve. Manziel didn't improve. Kirk did. Haven't seen Noil get any better.

I think Sumlin is a really good guy and we're seeing his ceiling in terms of results (my opinion). The majority of programs would be happy with his results.

The Aggies want to belong so badly AND they have the money to buy any coach they want. Seriously speaking, they have unlimited funding.

They can get out of their own way...

Ha ha, shit. What an arrogant little bastard. I guess I am cut from a different cloth, but I would make aure of a result before getting all cocky. Not sure what the deal is with these atbletes today that drop the ball before the goal line, rouse the crowd like this guy, stare at the ball they hit uninsured it's out of the park etc.

Sumlin though, the guy has to go. I don't care that your starting quarterback went down, your offense spotted your defense 34 points. And you gave that up in just over a quarter of football. Your backup was a five star dual threat guy picked by Mike Farrel to have the biggest impact as a Freshman this year, so your achilles was not severed when your starter went down. Traveon Williams had almost 200 yards rushing in the first half, and how many did he finish the game with? This is about as nasty as it gets for the SEC. The rest of the conference held it's own, but Texas A&M made us look pathetic.

I'm with you but maybe the Aggies were thinking something else.

He brought A&M up, but hasn't won anything. Like Richt, he's paid to win a championship but hasn't. Sumlin hasn't even won a division. They're paying a lot of money for the less than stellar results they've had. IMO, unless he wins the West, he's done.

I've always thought Sumlin was overrated.

aTM listened to the media and got all love struck, but they bought a lemon.

I'm not a SEC guy other than Bama and don't care how the conference does other than Bama, but it's a tough tough conference and it has a way of taking good coaches and making them mediocre. Had aTm stayed in the Big 12 I think Sumlin does better.

But, I agree with Terry. It does remind a person of us in the Shula years.

I whole heartedly agree you. aTM just doesn't seem to develope anybody. Even during their 11-3 year I think the writing was there, but was masked by some unbelievable talent
