📡 🏆 CFP Selection Show (and bowls) #1 Bama vs #4 Cincy in the semi's (UM vs UGA)

I feel as if our run defense stays stout we have a shot. Auburn will rely heavily on Tank Bigsby, and Georgia will ride their four backs to help Stetson out and minimize his throws. The tight ends at Georgia concern me, but as long as we make either of these teams one dimensional we have a really good shot at winning out. Bo Nix worries me as well with his ability to escape, but I just have to hope we can tackle in space and not let him hurt us like LSU and Ole Miss allowed him to do to them.
I am hoping the D improvement is here to stay but you never know. To me the Barn will not stop us. For UGA it will come down to how our OL in the middle holds up. #71 and #79 on the edge have struggled at times as we have already discussed numerous times. When challenged Bama usually responds. Bama and these different units being told they are a liability and how great UGA is plays well into Saban's hands.

First things first whoville this weekend.

I have to say, one thing I do like about the CFP committee as opposed to the BCS. With the stats @TerryP just linked. The committee can move teams up or down in the top 4 to get a matchup for the playoff. BCS poll would have Bama/UGA from the beginning. Those 2 teams appear to be the two best teams in CFB, so this way, they can build up to the best possible game. The committee has done in it with previous polls. I do like that aspect of the human factor being involved.

I don't buy into the "bulletin board" mentality like some do. Saban has been dealing with the media and the success of the program for so long, I doubt he's all of a sudden telling his guys to read the headlines about Georgia and to do something about it. Reading something and getting mad never ever made me perform better as I felt that state of mind only hinders production and makes room for mistake because you're out of your normal element and not just playing ball. It's easy for guys to say "yeah, I remember what they said" after the game or even before the game, but does it really elevate someone's potential over the original goal of the season? I don't think so.

That being said, Owens is the one link I'm concerned about. We can gameplan away from Jordan Davis (or go tempo and just get him winded), count on Evan Neal and Cohen to hold down the left side of the line, which only leaves one spot of concern with what Georgia throws at teams, the right end. Their outside backers set up their entire defense and allows their other linebackers to run free, blitz, and not have to worry about dropping into pass coverage because the pressure comes so quick. If we can somewhat hold up there, we have an amazing shot at beating them. Throwing a second tight end in the game or even the H-back would ease my mind. We need to see a few Kelly Johnson type blocks on their linebackers to set the tone.

November 20th, Michigan St. and ohio st. play each other. Michigan St. could have a let down this week coming off the big, emotional win over state rival Michigan.

Bama and UGA will more than likely end up playing in the SEC Championship game.

Oregon and Oregon St. play November 27th in the Civil War.

Oklahoma 8-0 and coming in at #6. They move up with loss by one of the top 4 teams but do they jump UC? I say yes.

UC is winning but the strength of schedule overall is going to really hurt them.

Michigan and ohio st. play the last game of the regular season, so that will eliminate one of them if they don't lose before then.

All we can do is take care of business on the field and lay off the rat poison.
The big elephant (no pun intended) in the room for Bama is that last regular season game with the barn. They are a dangerous and sometimes lucky team. You can bet they have been and are putting all their marbles in one basket (preparing for the iron bowl). Yes that game could come down to who represents the West in the SEC championship game. However, beating Alabama to them is their NC. auburn and Georgia in the SEC championship game would just be a formality.
