🏀 Trevor Lacey to transfer....

Just summing up feelings on the original subject of this thread...

There's been situations with kids throughout the years when I've felt it was time for parents to cut the strings. I suppose it should be called the W Syndrome? Earl Williams, Richard Williams, and I can't think of Jamies Winston's dads name...but you get the picture.

Now, with things I've heard and then recently read about the transfer subject being broached by TL's parent...geez, having a hard time chalking these move up in the "con" column under Grant.

To flesh this out, TL's dad was a high school basketball legend in the Huntsville area, who for off the court reasons never played at the next level. When TL became a big time propspect, his dad, who had been absent from the scene during his growing up years, showed back up. He saw TL as a one and done kid, and wanted him to consider only elite programs like NC, Ky and Kan. He felt that Bama was beneath his son. Kansas did eventually offer him, Kentucky slow played him and did not offer until they had missed on another guard. Bama offered early and stood by it. When Grant visited, Mom was very impressed, and that is why he ended up with us.

Dad, IMO, was trying to live out his own fantasies vicariously through TL. When TL showed himslef to be a solid, but not great player, again, IMO Dad was the one pushing for the transfer.

To those who attack CAG because TL has not developed as much as they thought he should, I ask this: considering the limited contact that the coaching staff can have with a player during the summer, who has the responsibility for making sure that the player does what the coaches ask them to do in the off season to develop their skills?
