Yeah, I just worry about teaching the offense to new guys. At least the ones we had, spent some time running it.

Yep. I remember people talking about how he graded out the best after games. I think that was his contribution to the opposing defense though.
We had a guy that played RT for us when I was a junior in HS. HC had us watching game film from the night before, when he exclaimed”Johnny, what in the Hell are you doing on this play?” It was a pass play where the LDE blew past him in pass pro and nailed me as I released a pass. Next play, “Johnny, what in the Hell?” Again, I’m hit and sacked by the LDE. HC screams out, “Damn Johnny, it looks like you’re taking up damn tickets instead of blocking! Look at yourself! Drop step, take his ticket and let back there in the backfield!” Capps was that damn bad!

One of my favorite Gleaton stories - we were scrimmaging & the backside guard pulled & blocked the CB out of the field of play. Gleaton yelled “Damn boy, I was afraid you wouldn’t make it back in time for the next play!”

Love me some Coach Gleaton!! I’d have run through a wall for him! We were scrimmaging one day and we had a guy that was All-American in scrimmages but disappeared come Friday nights and he was whipping Kenny’s ass that day. We run a play and the dude lays me out on about my third step of a 5 step drop. Coach chews Kenny’s ass. We run the next play, same result. Again, ass chewing for Kenny. 3rd play, Kenny drives the guy past me as I climb up in the pocket and I hit our Split End on a deep post. I turn around and Kenny is on top of our “dummy scrimmage hero” as coach often referred to him just pounding away. Coach stands over and says “damn good blocking son, but Hell! You just cost us 15 yards and you got your ass thrown out for punching a guy.”

If you want to go play at UCF instead of Bama, more power to you. I don't think we're going to miss him very much, 2 years on campus and 3 catches... you would have thought a 4 star would have been able to contribute more, especially at WR where its not uncommon that true freshmen start day 1 or at least by mid-season. This year we needed all the help we could get and he got 3 catches.

He won’t harp on it but you can bet Saban’s extremely frustrated with the O-line portal entrants. Those positions typically take a long time for a newcomer to play confidently. Losing a number of key backup players at the same time you’re losing the bulk of your starters would drive most coaches to drink.
