🏈 Touchdown Alabama Magazine: Is Saban Hinting of Changes in Division I and Future Scheduling?

Nick Saban likes to say things without really saying them. Many may have not paid attention to one of his remarks about scheduling. In so many words, Nick was trying to say what he has said so many time before that nothing stays the same for long in college football.

Here is what many feel he is bracing us for IN THIS STORY....

As long as everybody does it, I don't see anything wrong with it.

Everything would have to be so defined and perfect for that to work I can see Saban being in favor of it. I am going to list everything, and I doubt if there is anyone that would believe all of it could happen.

1. ALL, and I do mean ALL, of the OOC scheduling would have to be done from one centralized controlling organization. The conferences would have little if anything to say about those games.

2. Each conference would have to have the same number of teams and play the same number of conference games.

3. Each school would have to play 6 home games and 6 road games.

4. Don't know if they would, but the popular neutral site games could probably continue under the confines of #1 and #3 above. They would have to be considered a home game for one team and a road game for the other.

The most likely scenario would be five 14 team conferences playing a nine game conference schedule. Each conference would then be playing 63 conference games and 42 OOC games. There would be a total of 210 OOC games. 70 teams X 3 games, or 5 conferences X 42 games. Whichever way you wanted to look at it.

EOY, beginning in year one, thirty five teams would play five conference home games, one OOC home game, four conference road games, and two OOC road games. Likewise, the other thirty five would play four conference home games, two OOC home games, five conference road games, and one OOC road game.
