📝 Top JUCO running back Jovon Robinson visiting Alabama this weekend

He's a good running back; no doubt. Better now than he was when he was in high school.

There's one thing I think bears noting; his plans are to be a one and done. With Yeldon and Henry getting the majority of the snaps—Drake sharing them if he can ever grasp there's more than one thing to being a running back—I wonder how many snaps Javon could see himself getting in one season?

If we assume he could come in, immediately grasp the offensive scheme, playbook, and blocking assignments, etc., how many snaps would he be getting? Would it be enough to fulfill his goal of being a one and done?

I'd love to see his talent on our team. I don't see him as being a great fit if what's being reported is true and it's his intent to declare next year.

Likely Yeldon will be gone by the time Robinson enters school. Still, Robinson would never be "the guy" if he came here. At best he would share time with one other back.

I am not sure what the NFL rule is, but since he finished HS in 2012, couldn't he declare for the draft in the next window and be drafted in May 2015, making him "none and done"?

@psychojoe For some reason I was thinking he was suiting up this season. :bandhead:

As far as your "none and done" question—how old is he? I'm not sure of the NFL rules as well which leaves me wondering if he's had two years of playing time, but still hasn't reached the minimum age requirement, would he still be eligible?

There is no minimum age requirement, only requirement is three years from high school graduation.

Semantics. I'd guess they can't say, "you have to be 21" due to EOE regs?

FWIW, I believe that reads along the lines of "three seasons of NFL games played" instead of three years removed from high school. Same difference in the end—and semantics, again.

Yeah I guess so but at the same time a few years ago the Falcons drafted a defensive end from Arkansas that was 19 I think (he was one of those brainiacs that jumped ahead a bunch of grades in high school)... and boy did he suck. If I'm remembering correctly (about his age cause he most def. sucked hard).

I don't know enough about the NFL draft to doubt there's been a kid drafted at 19 so there's no reason to question that.

I do know enough about the SEC to see Arkansas and wonder if you've got the right college team. Off the top of my head, Bequette and Jamaal Anderson come to mind for defensive linemen that Arkansas had drafted. In fact, I'd be willing to bet there's been 3X as many offensive guys drafted from Arkansas than defense. There's certainly not a lot of lineman.

You've piqued my curiosity—who are you talking about?

I thought I said the name in that first post, my bad, it was Jamal Anderson.

@Birdman37 Still the wrong guy if we're talking about a 19yr old—Anderson left after his Jr. year at Arkansas.

You know what? :bird:

That's for reminding me of that guy. 2006, OT loss to Arkansas? Anderson sacked JPW at least twice that day, if not three times. I'm not talking sacks for a loss of 5 yards either...in the 10-13 yard range. :computerdestroy:

Anyway...I'm not going to look it all up, but based on what I'm thinking he'd be 28 or 29 now...meaning he'd have a pretty good change of being 21 when he was drafted. It would have been the 2007 draft, right?

Naw thats the guy, I know he left after his junior year. Im not sure on his age I just remember when he was drafted them saying he was the youngest player in NFL history because he had skipped several grades in high school. That or the commentators had no clue what they were talking about, and I didnt care enough to look into it back then cause he was so horrible.

@Birdman37 Amobi Okoye is the youngest. Drafted at 19 by the Texans at the 10th pick. He was drafted the same year as Anderson who was the eighth pick.

Jamaal was 21 when his name was called—born Feb. 1986.

Someone got their stories confused on who...no comment on how good either of those two were in the league. Hell, I had no clue where either ended up.

Maybe they were playing the Texans when I heard that and I mixed it up, IDK but I coulda swore it was Anderson. Or the announcers mixed it up. But Jamal Anderson was horrible man, damn Petrino was the coach and prolly the only reason he drafted Anderson. He had less than 5 sacks his entire career in Atlanta, such a great stat for a guy that was drafted to be the Falcons best pass rusher. Thankfully John Abraham came along a few years later.
