Clemson just lost to Wake Forest by a score of 12 to 7.

With this loss to yet another ACC team, their dream of that elusive ACC title is slowly dissolving.

The fans of Clemson were really counting on big things this year. Supposedly, if they ever were going to do it, this was going to be the year what with all the seniors and quality players on the team.

Wow. The ACC has just been a mess this year. I wouldn't be shocked to see Paul Johnson win the conference title, this year, based on what I have seen.

I just don't think Tommy will survive this either. Too bad. He seems decent enough.

Right now, GT is second behind VT in the ACC Coastal. Anything is possible in that conference right now.

Tommy Bowden, I feel kind of sorry for him too. He does seem like an honest and down to earth person. Of course, I am just basing that opinion on the few interviews I have seen him do.

It was sort of pitiful when he started calling all these other coaches after Alabama beat them.

I've been following Ga. Tech closely this year and N. Carolina as well. As much as I would like to see Johnson make it to the ACCCG, I just don't see it happening this year. One game down to Va. Tech (Hokies have the tie breaker) and they still have N. Carolina left on their schedule which is a team people should keep their eyes on the next few years.

Va Tech has a pretty easy slate in front of them. Their only remaining "challenge" looks to be Boston College who they face next weekend.

On Clemson...

We all know of the comparisons between Clemson and Auburn. The more and more I glance at the Clemson fan base, but more and more it becomes clear they are very, very much alike.

I glanced over a few of their forums after the game last night and saw several make mention of the idea they should follow Tubs and fire people now.

Another mentions how they have beaten their instate rival 5 of 7 times as a suave to hurt feelings.

They have a hard row to hoe to keep a .500 mark this season; @ FSU, BC and Virginia with home games against Ga. Tech, Duke and South Carolina.

They actually have a very good team. Davis is doing a good job so far. Watched a couple of their games. They are vastly improved over last year.

Clemson’s offense gives up on the run far too easily and was too predictable. I mean 16 runs and 42 passing plays last night when you have James Davis and CJ Spiller? Someone needs to tell the offensive coordinator that sometimes it’s OK to run a draw on 3rd and 7 or run a toss sweep on 2nd and 12. If Clemson doesn’t get at least 5 yards on 1st down, they always pass on 2nd and 3rd down. Wake was pulling 7 back into coverage and shutting them down. Unpredictability of offense is just as much about running on a passing down as it is about going play action on a traditional running down.

Plus, I think Harper and Ford are a little overrated. Both had big seasons last year when teams were putting 8 in the box to stop the run, but these two are not good enough to beat most team’s zone coverage.

I also noticed Wake using the old send the wideouts deep and sneak the tight-end between the LBs and Safeties play to perfection last night. How is it that Clemson still hasn’t made the adjustment to stop that after Nick Walker ate them up with it in the first week of the season?

To me it seems all of Clemson’s woes come right back to coaching.
