i don't know if any of you saw this on the news last night, but apparently tom brokaw spoke at the ole miss commencment on saturday morning.

and he used the chance to take a poke at us.

And an overreaction from the school's administration if the following report is true. Geez, what the hell were they thinking by even giving it the time of day?

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) — The University of Alabama is responding to some controversial comments made by former NBC anchor Tom Brokaw at the Ole Miss Commencement ceremony over the weekend. Brokaw served as the keynote speaker for the University of Mississippi. “Let me also say at the beginning, I’m so relieved to be speaking to a graduating class from Ole Miss. If I were speaking at Alabama, I would have to use smaller words and shorter sentences,” said Brokaw.

There’s plenty of discussion both for and against Brokaw’s comments, but they’re not sitting well with many people in Tuscaloosa. The University of Alabama sent the following statement Sunday night:

“Thirty-six percent of the freshman class at the University of Alabama has an ACT score of 30 or higher. This places Alabama in the top 5% in the country. Our numbers speak for themselves.”

So far, there’s been no reaction from Brokaw.

At each commencement speech given, there is a modicum of advice for students to carry with them, with hopes of applying it tot heir daily lives. Hope Tom told the Ol'Miss grads to make sure and erase each and very text they send and receive. Oh and if your gonna hit a bong through a gas mask, make sure no one is running a video camera.

He went to Iowa I believe. Does anybody find it funny that Mississippi is 50th of 50 in education in this country? I get he was joking to lighten the mood and enjoy their success over us the last couple of years, but you've got to expect some drawback with social media.

On a side note, does anyone find it a joke the guy wore a ball hat to such a classy institution of higher learning at their most achieving event.
