💬 Today's Weather- an off-season thread

I don't have a death wish but death is always lurking. Yeah, I keep good brakes on my car, slow for curves, but then you meet tractor trailer on your side of the road that takes you out. I do take precautions in bad weather but that's not going to keep me from potentially getting hurt or killed in a tornado. My surgeon told me that I was lucky to still be alive a few years ago when he performed double bypass about an hour after he did the arteriogram because my two main arteries that supply oxygen to my heart were 99% clogged, the so called widow maker and I am not even married. Death was very near and could have tapped me on the shoulder at any time, just as he could and does tap shoulders every minute of every day. Whether you are cautious or foolhardy, it just don't matter.

Then wouldn't it be better to explain life or not as an unforeseen occurrence, rather than this preset arbitrary decision by the omnipotent one? Suppose John Calvin had it wrong?

You may have slightly missed the emotional impact that numerous and successful 24 hr cable weather programs have on the human psyche. People love that stuff. I know humanoids who have the weather channel playing in the background all day long as they do their daily chores. Don't fight it, weather channel equals comfort food.

I don't even know what the channel number is for TWC. Oh geez, this is sad when I think about it ... only reason I had the local channel on? The phone was too close to the TV...OK Google wouldn't have worked--remote control. :smh:

if there's supposed to be bad weather (possibility of tornadoes), i bring up the live radar on my computer (if i'm at home). it is much better than any weather channel (local or national) and there's no talking. it's just a live radar that i can glance at anytime. i have the same app on my phone and ipad so no matter where i am, if there's gonna be some bad weather, i can see the live radar.

TUSKstuff, I am not a religious person and I have never read or had anyone explain to me why there is life or it's meaning or origin to my satisfaction. I don't think I have enough faith to believe the religious explanation or the scientific theory of the origions of life. And I am not sure if we live just to die. But I can say for certain that if we live we will die. I can't say for sure if our spirit never dies. I have spoken to dead people before but probably lucky I did not get any answers back.

True enough, we all came with an expiration date. The concept of, "if it's your time," would be theological in nature but fatalism gets tossed about as much by word of mouth as any written form of catechisms. In any case, I wish you good health and a hardy ROLL TIDE!!

Not sure how bad, I'll get out and look around the house once there is some light. As far as I know, no glass was broken. I did notice a few dents in the vehicle that wouldn't fit in the garage.

About a mile north of us they got tennis to baseball sized hail, so I'm considering myself lucky last night.

We had some hail, a lot smaller than that, a few years back and the entire neighborhood was having to replace roofs.
