Why do people claim alabama is a team of the past....let me show you our records in the 90s before we went on probation.

n 1991, Stallings finished the season with an 11-1[1]record, including a 30-25[2] victory over the University of Colorado

In 1992, his experienced defensive unit led the team to an undefeated regular season, and a berth in the first SEC Championship Game. Alabama defeated the University of Florida 28-21 in this Championship Game, giving Stallings his first SEC title, and the school's twentieth SEC title.[1] Following a 34-13 victory over the University of Miami in the 1993 Sugar Bowl

After an investigation that ran from early 1993 to August of 1995, the NCAA Infractions Committee found four major violations of NCAA rules in the Alabama football program. Stallings was implicated (along with athletic director Hootie Ingram) in falsifying the eligibility of Alabama player Antonio Langham during the 1993 season. Alabama's football program was then placed on probation.

In 1994, Stallings' team finished the regular season with a record of 11-0, and an 8-0 record in the SEC

In 1996, Stallings team won 10 games and earned a berth in the SEC Championship Game where they lost to the University of Florida

Gene Stallings compiled an official record at Alabama of 62-25( not to mention we had an 1-12 season due to probation...those are amazing stats better than saban)

1999 alabama won another SEC Championship

please get your facts straight we will always be a good team... recruits will always want to come to alabama,we have everything: tradition, GREAT facilities, amazing fan support everywhere, anything a top 3 program needs to be succesful

You know, I'm no geezer, but 8 years really isn't that long ago. And telling members of our board to "shut-up" may not have been the wisest thing you have ever done.

DUUUUUDE probation or not. Its still mediocre. Im not saying there isn't a valid excuse, but Bama has still been mediocre. Holy crap...and I never said the last 7 years are the only relevant ones. History matters. Bama has alot of tradition, and you should be proud of that, but it has nothing to do with this thread.

Where are the people I like, such as Bear Facts and Hef and the elephantitis guy...I dont like you guys. Your making your way to the Alphamale list and that is NOT a place you want to be. :lol:

im just saying it is rare for alabama to have bad seasons and you probabably wont see another for a long time.

And probation is a valid excuse are you insane, we lost so many recruits.

Not to mention we beat you guys 31-0 while on probation and in 2005 we went 10-2.

You know, if you read what the BAMA fans are saying, they have given our team a lot of respect, if not the hat. I think all would agree that the jury is out on Miles to some extent. When you come to someone else's home show a little respect.

After watching football for 30 years and having people in my family play at all levels I have come to understand that tradition does mean a lot. It makes you proud of your history. Whenever you reach the top, people want to be where you are. I am proud of LSU, our tradition and our championships. Imagine if we had six times those championships. You would know that being down is only a temporary thing.

The point of these boards is to talk football. If you want to mess with someone, you might want to wait until after the game.

I actually see Alabama as terribly inconsistent, not necessarily a "thing of the past." The same can be said for LSU baseball, as both of us have struggled to recover after losing the great coaches of Bertman and Stallings.

We've allowed ten win seasons to be followed up with losing records on three consecutive occasions. One day we're beating Florida by four touchdowns, and the next day we're losing to Mississippi State. 1999 saw us lose to Louisiana Tech and gone on to beat Spurrier's Gators twice in the same season. We've been consistently inconsistent. *wink*

Based on the improvement we've seen over the course of this season, I definitely think we're headed in the right direction. That thankfully runs parallel to 2006, where our best game and victory was the season opener against Hawaii.

We have been VERY mediocre over the last decade.

Probation is our on fault and is just an excuse to why we have sucked :wink:

Yes but we are now back on track, it just seems like its driving people insane that alabama is once again have top 3 recruiting classes. And alabama isnt "back", we are just were we left off before probation

im just going by stats.....alabama was a great team in the 90s. Great in 2002 (10-2 record), great in 2005 (10-2 record), and we are right back where we left off before probation.
