🏈 TJ Yeldon swaps from AU to UA

So Porter when i asked if the malzahn departure would flip Yeldon and you emphatically gave me a one word response NO. Would you care to change that answer now lol.:hyper:

So where are all the people that come out of the woodworks when something negative happens in recruiting to blast our coaching staff?

Anyways, this is a HUGE pickup. Glad to have him on board.

So glad I brought my laptop to work today.... the Auby meltdown threads are awesome.

Anyone else getting the feeling that something bad may be happening to the barn soon? I mean in terms of NCAA violations. I don't know anything, just a gut feeling but seeing coaches bail out (Roof would have been fired anyways but still) and recruits jumping ship is often times an indicator of bad things to come.

Just say there was actually something going down, as far as an NCAA punishment, or the like...I HIGHLY doubt that recruits would know anything about it. Certainly if it had not already been made public.

This certainly comes as a shock (in a good way) and I'll admit, I had the same feeling about this as Porter did. Year after year it seems like big name recruits claim that they're "opening their recruitment up", when in reality 99% of them remain committed to their original choice. Turns out this time, Yeldon was just being honest.

And it makes sense. We have done an outstanding job developing RB's under Saban. Our last two RB's have been in NYC for the Heisman Trophy Presentation (one of them even won it), and both have/will be selected in the 1st round of the NFL's Draft. Plus, Saban has shown that if you're good enough to play, he's going to get you on the field whether you're a Frosh or a Senior.

Justin Hunter switching his commitment to Ga Tech, and us picking up Yeldon...I'll consider that a win any day of the week, especially being that Hunter didn't go to one of our rivals, and even managed to get out of the conference.

In the beginning I thought this class was going to drop off from recent years...it sure is starting to shape up in a BIG way down the stretch! Roll Tide!

This class is definitely shaping up to be something special... and rival the 2008 class. I think Goldman and Collins will be wearing crimson (I really like Goldman). And maybe Dixon, Cyrus Jones (not that big on him yet and with Yeldon he may not be Bama bound unless he wants to play WR and return), Alphonse Taylor, and Winston.... oh this class has the potential to be epic.

Im giddy just thinking about it :td:

Yeah guys I admit I didn't think he was coming here... but it wasn't because of Gus Malzahn. That said, of course, about two days after that post it became pretty obvious he was indeed gonna flip. And I gotta say, I'm excited to have him and all, but the epic meltdown it has caused today/tonight has made the whole thing worthwhile. I was looking at an auburn board last night and it was cute how they were still assuring themselves that he was all in the family.

This is info from a guy in the know down in Mobile, and he's always pretty accurate. TIFWIW......

"First of all, let's knock out some misconceptions right off the bat.

1. TJ is not an AU fan.. he grew up a BAMA fan.
2. TJ's parents were never "AU'll in" or pushing him to AU. They backed their son in the decision he made and advised him along the way. (Also, his fathers employer had no bearing on TJ's choice.. that is ludicrous.) TJ's dad attended 3 BAMA games this year.(one of which was in Gville)

Now on to his recruitment.. After TJ's 10th grade yr playoff victory over Opelika, Trooper and Luper were waiting on TJ at Daphne high the next day. They have been all over TJ since then and did an excellent job recruiting him. We on the other hand, started out slow. We evaluated him last summer as a safety and this was not what he was wanting to hear. He committed to AU. AU even went as far as working with Daphne on their offense. Even though things looked bleak, our staff saw his potential at RB soon after the start of his Senior year. They never backed off and continued to make him a priority. It's kinda like in sales when someone else has a contract you want, they won't switch to you, so you stay in good standing, keep courting them and hope the other guy pisses them off or drops the ball. Well this is a part of why TJ is going to be at BAMA. AU's inept offense, the exit of Malzahn and the blundered recruitment of TJ led to him flipping to Bama. Luper was TJ's lead recruiter and dropped the ball in his recruitment. In a matter of weeks, Luper managed to blow the lead AU had worked for over two and a half years. He was caught in a lie, when asked if he interviewed for another job(UAB I believe) and made a crucial mistake in some statements he made to TJ and his family. He (without going into too many details) promised TJ something that was at the expense of someone else at AU. TJ's family felt if he would do this to the other kid he was not trustworthy and would do the same to TJ. All of this coupled with the fact that Bama made so much sense led to the flip. The timing was planned as well. It has been decided for some time but he chose to wait until the dead period for obvious reasons.

Other tidbits.. TJ's father stated that some of the players at the AL/MS all-star game mentioned that they wanted to play together and form a (i know it lame and over used but it would be true) "dream team". < > He said supposedly Winston, Taylor and the big defensive end from MS (I'm assuming this is Channing Ward)was going to sign with BAMA with TJ. Taylor met with Saban. Saban told him they wanted him, they would take him, but they aren't going to beg him.. FSU is doing some begging.(should know more on Taylor possibly tomorrow). The ball is in Taylor's court (TJ was at Taylor house today so I imagine he is in his ear for Bama). Two of the Dominos has fallen (Yeldon, Taylor). I believe that Winston comes as well, as for Ward(I assume thats who he was speaking of), that would be a shocker for me but I'm not going to doubt him."

There you have it....

Got that from another site so read into it however you want. Makes sense though that the kids would want to all play together, but Ive heard that stuff before and they dont always pan out. Would be friggin sweet though

I don't visit that site. Hell, can't say I've seen it linked before. :headscratch:

I thought it might be from one of the sites Bran visits frequently.

I see it popped up on Rivals Bama site just after supper time last night. The guy that posted it has been around awhile. He's been saying Yeldon was flipping for a few days now.

That said, him running to the nation forum just to brag about being right? That never sits right with me. Let your words speak for themselves.

----Howard,

You remember the Winston threads? Ironic...considering.
