🏈 Tim Williams arrested?

i posted this somewhere else, and i'll copy it here.....

why was he arrested for that? it's not illegal. you are free to open carry in Alabama without a permit. now, if he had it concealed and didn't have a conceal carry permit, then, yes, THAT is illegal. but i will reserve judgement until the facts come out.

but i'd like to add: according to the report, he was arrested by the University of Alabama police. and their policy doesn't allow you to carry a firearm while on campus or any property leased, owned, or controlled by The University.

University students may not possess firearms at any time on campus (except as expressly authorized by the University of Alabama Police Department ("UAPD")).

if he was indeed on campus, then he isn't allowed to carry at all (which i do not agree with, by the way).
 
Good point @sk33tr. My understanding is open carry in a vehicle does NOT need a concealed carry permit.

I'm about to have kids in college, I'm mixed on the whole carry in college idea, I can see both sides AND I'm a proud CHL card holder.

Changing the subject a bit, did you see the shit in Austin earlier this year where students were open carrying dildo's protesting conceal carry in classrooms. Made me laugh hard.

Yeah, I agree with you on the carry on campus deal. A lot of kids, say here at Georgia Tech, are getting robbed almost on a daily basis as crooks know these kids have expensive computers, phones, iPods, iPads, and anything else, so they are easy targets. You think the criminals follow the laws of no guns on campus?

It doesn't matter if you agree with the laws or not. Out at 2 a.m. in the middle of the week is not a sign that you take the game of football seriously. Being with people smoking pot, and with a gun makes you a moron.

Sounds like he had it concealed but regardless why are you carrying on campus anyway? Stuff like this is just flat out dumb. You are a potential millionaire a year from now, be smart!

Have they not seen the news at all the past few months. If you're black and you have a gun, cigarette, swollen finger, iphone, plastic cup, doritos bag, mix tape from your girlfriend, or a Daniel Boone raccoon hat....you're going to get smoked by a cop. He's lucky!
 
Glad to say that I haven't seen any "kick his ass off of the team!" on here yet!! Even though I will admit that my brain dead cousin thinks he should be booted. To be honest, I have more of an issue with being out at 2am than anything else. Now, I can say that when I was down there in school, 2am was still early!! It didn't matter when the Houndztooth, The Booth, Harry's, or Side Tracks/Post 37/ Slime Track closed.

No clue here, but I would probably expect Saban to sit Tim for at least a half Saturday or up to 2 games.

while i do think it was dumb to have the gun on campus, regardless if it was purchased legally or not, the law regarding that is, in my opinion, idiotic. are college students not allowed to defend themselves against those who would do them harm? that's they reason why schools, no matter if it's a grade school or a college campus, are considered soft targets. criminals know that people on those campuses don't have, or aren't supposed to have, guns to defend themselves so it makes it easier to do harmful things.

my belief is that if you are legally allowed to purchase and carry a firearm, then you should be allowed to carry it on campus. criminals can't legally purchase a firearm, but get one somehow anyway and start shooting at soft targets because they know no one there will be able to shoot back.
