šŸˆ Tim Brando's preseason top 10

I can follow what I believe to be his reasoning.

With Ohio State and Louisville, it's not how good of a team they have as much as how bad the teams are they play.

Picking against the SEC is about like picking against Bama: the odds are in your favor.

He's probably thinking we lose to A&M on the road for them to make it to ATL against UGA where I'm thinking he's got UGA losing to A&M.

In the end he's probably got 6-7 of the top ten right—as in they'll BE there. In the correct order? No one is that good.

I think his picks are pretty horrible, but that seems to be the exact way every other journalist in the country is going. They are like sheep with one another and just fall in line. I for the life of me cannot understand how he thinks Louisville has the best team in the entire country. That's what #1 means, that you believe they are simply the best team in the country. I can understand how an Alabama, Texas A&M, or Georgia would be #1, but Louisville, Stanford, Clemson, and even Ohio State up top is a joke to me. Stanford just lost both tight ends, all-world back Taylor, quarterback etc. Clemson always stumbles a few times as that's their "thing". Ohio State simply doesn't have the playmakers in my eyes and will not repeat an undefeated season, even in a weak Big 10. Louisville simply has a very talented quarterback that gets all of the publicity. Add that in with a simple schedule and I can see why there is hype, but to me it smells something like Arkansas last year. Maybe I'll be wrong and all of these journalists will look like geniuses, but I feel good about my abilities to analyze college football.

Two time champion quarterback (#10), 1,000 yard running back (#4), 1,000 yard All-American receiver (#9), two starting linemen (one All-American) (#71 & #61), top linebacker in college football (#32), one of the top defensive ends in the country (#49), two (#6 & #24), maybe three (#13) very reliable members of the secondary and more ALL RETURNING, and I think that's what makes a team a #1 team. It doesn't truly matter to me what we start out at, because obviously it only matters in the end, but logic makes you wonder where these guys come up with their picks. Trendy is not something I care for and hate hearing from a so called professional.

No, he has Bama losing to UGA in the SECCG, and says no SEC team will have fewer than two losses. Meaning he has ATM with two conference losses and Bama with one since he has ATM beating Bama. I believe he has Bama losing to Clemson in a BCS bowl for a third loss. He has UGA in the Sugar Bowl rather than the BCS NCG.

He is also on record as saying ATM will win the NC before Manziel leaves. Even I know that this is JM's last year, but Brandeaux doesn't even have ATM winning the SEC West much less the NC.:headscratch:

I saw someone mention that on TI. I listened to the audio of the video Lance embedded long enough to get through the top ten and quit. I'd apologize for the mistake, but I doubt it's needed. :halo:

Hrmm, Manziel leaving? I hadn't considered the possibility. I'm certainly not as sure as you are. How successful he is this fall certainly seems to be the determining factor as it seems to be one of the biggest unknowns of 2013.

One thing he has going for him, which no one seems to recognize (voice,) is a very easy schedule outside of two games. Honestly, 11-1 wouldn't shock me and neither would 8-4.

I have ATM at 8-4. With losses to Rice (yes, Rice!), Bama, at Ole Miss, and at LSU.

Note:See my edit above about Bama and UGA Bowls.

What exactly did A&M lose last year? What I've heard, they're rebuilding that front 7 and have little depth up front. For a team like Alabama that loves to control the clock, wear you down, and keep your best player on the sideline, that doesn't bode well for you...

I have A&M going 10-2 again, losses at home to Alabama and @ LSU.

OK. Before everyone thinks I am crazy as Brandeaux, here is my take on ATM-Rice. In the first place, ATM is going to be preparing for Bama. Big mistake.

Secondly, Rice blew up my Bowl Predictions last year because I thought the # 2 Rushing Offense (Air Force) averaging 316 YPG was going to run all over Rice. They didn't, and neither will ATM. Rice returns 10 starters on defense.

Thirdly, Rice leads the nation in % of Lettermen returning. This is a very experienced squad that finished last season very strong.

Compare ATM and Rice on those charts, and remember ATM is not even preparing for Rice. There is NOTHING but BAMA on their mind.

Even if I am wrong about the straight up win, this is a game you can take Rice and the points to the bank.

You might want to rethink ATM at Ole Miss. Only five 1A teams return MORE starters than does Ole Miss. Only nine 1A teams return FEWER starters than does ATM.

Ole Miss returns 18 starters from the team that lost by only a FG to ATM last year. ATM returns only 10 starters from the team that beat Ole Miss by only a FG last year.

Damn good point, they'll be looking for revenge after letting last years game slip away. OM is due an upset every year too....So 10-2/9-3...
