TUSCALOOSA ā Alabama may still be kicking itself about its loss to Ole Miss that ended the SEC regular season in basketball last Saturday.
But what hurt the Crimson Tide even more was a Jan. 25 loss at South Carolina. The Gamecocks won just two league games all season.
The bitter taste after that loss returned when Alabama players learned they will open the SEC Tournament Thursday (SEC Network, 2:30 p.m.) in New Orleans against the Gamecocks, who defeated them 56-54 in Columbia.
āI think we lost because we really werenāt playing as a team,ā senior forward JaMychal Green said. āWe didnāt have a togetherness like we should have. We didnāt have enough energy for the game.
