TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama practiced for two hours in full pads today at the Thomas-Drew Practice Facility as preparations continue for Saturday's SEC home game with South Carolina.

"We ended a pretty tough work day out there today," Alabama head coach Nick Saban said following Wednesday's practice. "The players have worked hard this week. This is a difficult preparation for us. I think you reach a point in the season where it gets more and more difficult for the players to grind through what they have to do, but we've certainly worked hard at that.

"I think it all comes back down to the kind of passion you have for what you want to accomplish and a good understanding of the positive energy and attitude that it takes to actually accomplish something that's meaningful and significant and how difficult it is to sustain consistency in what you do, especially in a league like ours, where every team you play is a good team.

"South Carolina, certainly is a very good team and a difficult preparation for us with all the things they do on offense. Steve Spurrier is a very, very good offensive coach. Ellis Johnson does a great job with the defense and they've got some very good defensive players. This is a very challenging game for us."

Alabama's 2009 homecoming game will kick off at 6:45 p.m. (CDT) this Saturday in Bryant-Denny Stadium and will be nationally televised by ESPN, with Brad Nessler, Todd Blackledge and Erin Andrews calling the action. The game can also be heard on the Crimson Tide Sports Network, with Eli Gold, Phil Savage and Barry Krauss describing the action.

How often do we get a press release about a difficult practice?

Maybe I'm seeing too much into this but this totally fires me up. These guys are just pounding away at each other w/ the full expectation that nobody is going prepare them better than each other.

It is mid season, they're 6-0, & they realize that what they did today is all that mattered. It is such a simple truth but not so simple to buy into.

This kinda stuff gives me focus & determination in my life (family, work, friends, spiritual relationship, etc).

This may sound cheesy to some of you but I thank God that I'm a Crimson Tide Fan. ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!
