🏈 Thoughts on Ingram an possibly looking past AU

MI seemed out of it to me all game. His hip pointer supposedly came on the last series, but I was wondering if he was hurt early on. He just did not have his usual burst and his decision-making was way off, FREQUENTLY running right into defenders and not setting up blocks.

I also wonder if the coaching staff - at least to some degree - was looking ahead to the SECCG by being conservative in the game plan and not unloading the whole play book. There seemed to be a distinct lack of counters and misdirection in the run game. Even on the last drive, CNS himself had to trump the offensive staff and tell them to go for the touchdown instead of playing for the FG. We had problems with not being aggressive enough on O earlier this year as well. Auburn's only hope in stopping the run was to use athletic speed. We should have taken advantage of that from very early on with misdirection. The Cowpie-gers were SKY HIGH on adrenaline and WAYYYY overpursuing - especially early on. We should have made them pay for that. Also, I was disappointed with the casual almost lackadaisical attitude on our first offensive drive, like it didn't really matter. The attitude was capped off by the absence of a challenge on Julio's catch. Despite the fact that CBS made no effort to show replays, Julio was adamant that it was a catch and it looked like one to me as well. The no-challenge, the vanilla play-calling, etc., especially knowing how totally pumped they would be was very disappointing to me.

And you know what else? I think we were looking past Auburn more than many would care to admit. But that's not necessarily a bad thing now the day after, because....

Having said all that, the positive thing about all of this is that it is ALL fixable for the SECCG. We get an extra day to prepare and get strong and there is NOTHING to look past this game towards - this is THE GAME period! We have a chance to come out the chute on fire in this game. I am looking for the coaching staff to be FAR more aggressive game-planning for UF. I look for our players to have a bit more rest and ALOT more fire, and I look forward to seeing the REAL MI back on the field with our other stud TR getting involved as well.

Last thing. If it's our choice, maybe we should defer to start the game this time.

MI HAD to be hurt, and CNS is never upfront about injuries. While I worry about the SECCG, Trent Richardson will be the next Earl Campbell.

I too thought MI was not really trying too hard. He never seemed to wait for his blocks and then he just ran right into his own guys a few times. There was no misdirection and everyone seemed to know which way the play was going. I really think they were looking past that game and I hope it was worth it. I really loathe Florida and want nothing more than to stomp on them next Saturday. ROLL TIDE!

i think mark tried as hard as he always does but the barners had focused in on him. remember them saying ingram was not getting the heisman on them? maybe the coaches should have taken that statement more serious and planned around it. made me think of the "darby up the middle for a yard" days!

I don't know about you guys, but I personally would much rather have Mark sit out a game (even if it is a HUGE one) or whatever ness. until he gets back on his feet. I would rather have him all next season then not even half way for one or two. Besides we have T-rich.

I'm not sure I buy into the whole "looking past an opponent" thing in general. I'll give AU some credit. They had Mark's number and kept him in check. Josh Bynes was all over Mark all day.

Fortunately we had a little Julio and some Trent to throw at them. It's nice to have a choice of weaponry, ain't it?

My thought is that why would Bynes not have the same roll for Richardson. Basically, key in on whatever back is in. Trent looked better from the start than Ingram. I'm sure this aint the first team we've played to try something similar and Ingram gained yards on them.

I think Ingram was hurt prior to the game.

Hahaha!!! Bynes is probably just now realizing that 26 is a higher number than 21!!!

I think we are somewhat lucky to win the Auburn game, but I also think we could have overwhelmed them if we wanted to. We are thinking about Florida. We have been thinking of them since halftime of the Chattanooga game. We probably have been scheming and planning for them since right after the Sugar Bowl last year.

We have their number this year. It's #22. That is, #22 will be back, and then we win #22 SEC Championship.

The Barns intent was to not let #22 beat them. Problem is, #3, #12, #8, #84, and company picked up #22's slack. The Barn basically put all their eggs in that one basket. They didn't think Trent was the back that Ingram is.
