šŸˆ Thoughts on Donta Hightower

With regards to the OP, entirely up to Dont'a. I could see value in him going as a leader on the defensive side, but I also realize he's a bit of a low key kinda guy. As a Bama fan, this has no impact on me nor does it change my thought's about Dont'a as a person.

It's a big deal because lots of people are still butt hurt over Trump...hence the reason 2 have said they won't go. The media is making alot of stuff a big deal these days and the people are out rioting over stupid ****, being feed a bunch of BS.

Its not just the media, my twitter and facebook have been full of this nonsense people whining about who will or wont go to the white house. Someone, I dont remember it was Hannity or Limbaugh, said that Robert Kraft should cut every single player that refuses to go to the white house and people were parroting that shit on social media.

my response to them is......why?

why should they get cut from the team for not wanting to do something that isn't required of them or written into their contracts?

Same reason some moron liberal writer put out an "open letter" to Chris Long demanding that he not go, people feel like their "heroes" should do what THEY think is right not what the player themselves think or want. It's an entitlement culture that everyone on the right lays at the feet of everyone on the left, but the truth is it is a bipartisan issue in our country. "I want freedom of _____ for everyone" unless you do or say something I dont like, in that case you shouldnt have the same freedom.

If a white player refused to go under Obama's term because he was making a political statement I would call him a racist. If theses players are black and doing this to make a political statement, they are racist as well.

I have to agree with the theme or route this thread is taking. The media asks these guys if they are attending and it sort of backs the player in to a corner to respond. Hightower didn't choose to "announce his decision", he was put on the spot with the question. He replied with a "no, I'm not going." The media immediately jumped with "Why not?" The media is trying to make this a race/political issue. I was happy that DontĆ” quickly said, "It isn't a statement on politics, but more of I've been there and down that in college."

Let me add that DontĆ” even skipped out on the parade. "I've had enough cold!"

What about the last time NE won the Super Bowl? I know that Old Tom didn't go who else didn't make the trip? Does anyone know, because I don't remember this happeing in the news?

Tom Brady did that... and how is "making a political statement" racist? Especially considering their are white players - like Chris Long - who said they aren't going. Are they racist too? That just makes no sense.

I actually thought he handled it quite well. I think he actually made the effort to remove political implications. Been there done that - he also didn't go when Obama was in office. It's just a sad state in our country that so much has to be politicized.

That is silly. If I am Robert Kraft, then Donald Trump is a very good friend of mine, and I have a much better solution to obtain 100% attendance. I would simply announce that Super Bowl bonus checks will be distributed only at the White house after the meeting with Mr. Trump. If you want yours, be there.

Yeah except I'm pretty sure that's illegal...

If they do not want to go it is entirely up to them. Once you've been once there really is no other reason to go. But meeting any US President is an honor setting aside politics. I was fortunate enough to have a photo op in the Oval Office with President Clinton at the end of my last military assignment. I didn't agree with him or vote for him but it was still pretty cool to be with a group of soldiers, sailors, marines and have that opportunity.
