šŸˆ Thoughts on Donta Hightower

Personally.....I see no big deal...if you wanna skip it just skip it...why does it have to be announced..an issue...just dont go...period...
He said he has been before...and didnt wanna go back...
Probably a few have skipped going...and didnt announce it or make it an issue or a statement...
So....no big deal ....

It's his business. As a Bama fan, I still think he has the right to decline or to to accept (regardless of who is president and how they align), and he can do what he wants. He's an adult. Going or not going doesn't change the fact that he's a winner in my book.

I agree with 50+yeartidefan, why announce it? My thoughts are you are making it about you and not about team. Don't announce it, don't answer questions about it, just don't go. Anything that draws attention away from the team effort and focuses on the individual is unsporting. From a sports fan perspective, I believe it diminishes the view of his character.

I wouldn't have gone if Barry was in office, so I don't see an issue if anyone doesn't want to see our guy. Just because he's in the spotlight as an athlete, I hate how that simply brands him one way or the other simply because he doesn't want to do something. Standing for and respecting the anthem is totally different than liking the president simply because people died for you to do what you do with the anthem, and the presidency has basically become a joke with the media, protests, and other BS that kicked up when Clinton's shenanigans started back in the 90's. Let those that want to go enjoy it, and let the others miss out. It's a win-win for everyone involved. The issue is the media and them riling the masses over it

Hightower doesn't seem to want to make it a political statement or I'm sure he would have said why he wasn't going. Being a free agent, I'm sure that's what matters most these days.

my thoughts exactly!

He was asked if he was going, and he said he wasn't going, said he has "been there, done that" with Bama. Not sure what the issue is.

He does not want to go; he isn't. Most of his teammates want to go; they are. Everyone wins.

I see it this way, if he wanted to go then GO! If not then DON"T GO! No need to tell us all why, unless these ones need a pat on the back? Yes, I would like to see Hightower in Atlanta, and I'm a Packers fan.

Putting aside my feelings for Trump... how am I supposed to feel about it? If I thought Trump was the most amazing person ever should I be mad or disappointed at a football player I like isn't going to the white house? Why? I personally think the white house trip for National Title and Super Bowl winner is a treat for them, its a tradition, no matter the president. But if Dont'a or anyone else chooses against, I'm happy for him especially if he is doing it for whatever ethical or moral reasons he has. Good for him. I get that everyone on social media is trying to make this a big deal (both sides are trying to shame those that choose to go or choose not to go and its pathetic in my opinion). Tom Brady didnt go last time the Pats won, no one cared then and no one should care now. Hell, even Jordan and Bird have decided against going in the past. Move on.

He didnt "announce" anything. Just like with Martellus Bennett and others, a reporter asked him and he answered. People would complain that he refused to answer it if he just said "next question." This is nowhere near the deal people are trying to make it into.

He did announce. He was then asked why. Like I said, don't announce. Just don't go. If it is noticed you are absent and then asked why, say you had other commitments on that day. Worked for Brady.

With regards to the OP, entirely up to Dont'a. I could see value in him going as a leader on the defensive side, but I also realize he's a bit of a low key kinda guy. As a Bama fan, this has no impact on me nor does it change my thought's about Dont'a as a person.

It's a big deal because lots of people are still butt hurt over Trump...hence the reason 2 have said they won't go. The media is making alot of stuff a big deal these days and the people are out rioting over stupid shit, being feed a bunch of BS.

No he did not. They asked him when was on Sportscenter if he was going and he said "no because he's been there done that." But even if he did, who cares? Its his right, last time I checked it NFL players are not required to go to the white house nor are they required to not talk about it because OriginalBamaChrist would prefer they dont.
