I do try to limit the quotes to those I've encountered while reading something, or something that I've remembered being told by a parent/coach/mentor, as opposed to just grabbing a quote image and pasting it in. YMMV.

"Katy, bar the door!" was an expression used by my old football coach, Roger Hibbs, when a play went well or a defensive push really messed things up at practice. He passed away earlier this year, a good man, and every time I see that saying I think of him.

When I look at the things I’ve written about, or explored over the years, I’m drawn again and again to obsessives. I like them. I like the idea that someone could push away all the concerns and details that make up every day life and just zero in on one thing, the thing that fits the contours of their imagination. Obsessives lead us astray sometimes. Can’t see the bigger picture. Serve not just the world’s, but also their own narrow interests. But I don’t think we get progress or innovation or joy, or beauty without obsessives.

I've been on this planet for 50+ years and I don't get the idea that obsession is a bad thing It's another word for hobby.
