🏈 This is how each New Year's Six Bowl team stacks up in terms of roster talent via 247's ⭐ rankings

So no one should be surprised that the GOAT can get talent to Tuscaloosa. The portal just gave him another opportunity to pick and choose to take care of immediate needs for a particular year.

Pretty sure that is every teams measuring stick and the puppies have not faired any worse than most other teams. The only difference is they THINK they are Bama but they are not but no one is.

I agree, and that would be where their failures begin. If you try and measure up to the best coach ever, a program firmly entrenched as a Top 3 program ever, financially stable, and cutting edge, you've already failed. Those top programs weren't created overnight, it took years and years of faithful support and good hires within the program to get it to that point. Saban could not do this at Maryland, Vanderbilt, or say Rutgers. Georgia has a lot of the root system to be great, but they haven't built the same bedrock Alabama has.

I agree with that. I'm just stating that even with all those five stars that teams find help elsewhere and kids aren't coming to Georgia just because other five stars are on the roster, but that it also can't be development because most of them have not played to their rankings (which were very high).

Georgia has recruited top classes, but they haven't performed like it. Ohio State, Alabama, Clemson, and to a far extent (offensively) Oklahoma have utilized their talent the best as they are main stays at the top. Georgia is no different than Notre Dame to me at the moment, and probably not even to that level at the moment. If Georgia was in another conference? Yes, they may have more Playoff appearances, but they have also shown they'll drop a game to a much lesser opponent, so who really knows. Unfortunately their measuring stick is Alabama, which has really spoiled their "success" the last ten years.

Yep.....

For the recruiting and living in SECe....
Uga hasnt much to show for effort...
This was their year...may still be...
But...if a uga fan....one must be very frustrated

Yep....and a couple of receivers here and there in previous years....
I don't know if they'd make the impact you were referring to earlier: they've been role players (not discounting their contributions, mind you.)

Dieter has been the best of the rest of the wide receivers. Mullaney wasn't spectacular, but solid. The most impactful guy, before JW, as a "receiver" would be Colin Peek, wouldn't you agree?

The 2 you mentioned....Coker and Dickerson.....and the 2 this year havehad significant season changing impacts....

Others have played a role....

And think about Burrow at LSU...what a great impact for them....Fields at OSU another

Portal just gave Saban another avenue to get immediate help. He can make these calls later than he could have in the past with the sit out one year rule. It gives him the opportunity to see the impacts on his roster of the nfl draft and then he can shore that up with talent from the portal. You can't beat Saban at the job of recruiting. It is a losing battle for anyone. Smart has probably come the closest but he is challenged in the development area it seems. He at least gets that recruiting is priority 1.
