In the real world, reports say they've opened four times on Sundays. I only knew of one, when Hartsfield had a catastrophic loss of power, and CFA employees went to their HQ just a couple of miles from the airport. Fed 5,000, for free.

Any decision, like new coke, gathers a ton of interest; however, you could argue that any decision yet the company survived doesn't make the list.

Bed, Bath & Beyond - got rid of name brands and went generic.
Blockbuster ignoring streaming.
Silicon Valley Bank ignored its funding concentration and liquidity risk.

Others made a series of mistakes to drive their companies in the ground. Retail is the most obvious, with K-mart, Sears, JC Penney and the list goes on.

The world is littered with Chapter 7-filing restaurant chains, some I really liked - Lone Star Steakhouse, Steak & Ale, Bennigans.

Not really a bad business decision(s), but I think about the electronics boom of about 20 years ago... There were the plasma TV's that hit the market... and a good name brand 50" plasma was $10,000. But then they had the rear projection models that also went HD, and were cheaper, but still hefty in price (and weight). Wasn't too long that LCD tvs hit the market, followed by LED... now, you can get a 50" with a better picture than the $10,000 plasma for like 300 bucks. And the Blu-ray vs. HD-DVD format war? Companies battled each other for the lucrative high definition DVD market with Blu-Ray winning out, only for them to end up like a dinosaur anyway thanks to the boom of the digital media age.

I heard from several old timers say Schlitz beer made a colossal mistake by changing their old formula to a new formula..They tried to being it back but couldn’t really get it going.. even the “go for the gusto” motto returned..

K-Mart was a little cocky after knocking off Zayre...
There used to be a Super-K just up the street from my house. They had a "meat market" that was the size of the store in "The Ferg" for Bama stuff...all meat. Just for the seafood. Live lobsters. There was a farmers market about a 1/4 mile down the street...didn't go more than two miles from my house for food.

To say "K-mart" and "great steaks" in the same sentence...but, it was true. K mart...had fresh seafood daily. Imagine that.
