🏈 The USC game will be like the Duke game for Alabama?

Except that USCe was established before California was a state and 79 years before USCw existed.

So there is a USCe and UScw. Well @planomateo .... ?????????

Again, there is only one USC... the other is UofSC.

Lookup who owns the patent on USC. There was a lawsuit a decade ago where Southern Cal won the rights to USC.

USC.edu takes you to Southern California's website, whereas SC.edu takes you to South Carolina.

The country was founded on the east coast, that's common sense. Thus states on the east coast are going to have been established sooner.

There is only one USC...

A fan posts a question on a message forum asking, "who would you like to see a home and home against?" A lot of the answers are USC. Are they talking about a football game with South Carolina?
ESPNU announces bowl classics and mentions "one of the best USC games of all time." Are they talking about Gamecock football?

When it comes to football, there is only one USC. Damn straight.

Well, I'd rather play USC than Duke anyway regardless.

That's the crux of the matter with 50+
percent of those who didn't like the matchup last season.

The irony here is that Duke went 8-5 in 2018, and USC finished at what in 2019?

I wasn't a fan of Alabama opening with Duke. If I was honest I'd say Alabama hasn't really opened up against anyone meaningful in years. The media attempted to make FSU meaningful. But scheduling a top 5 game in the polls years in advance requires more luck than sense.

But at least Alabama is opening with a P5 top 15 all time program, which Duke isn't.

I tried pointing to this season in a discussion about USC several weeks ago.

You mention irony, I'm not sure there's a word to fit how this all shook out.

Bama's agreement with the ACC was originally thought to be a game against Miami. But that's Miami,, it's not Duke. A small coincidence in this whole story is Duke closed their season out against Miami, with a win. The name alone would have changed the story. Da 'Canes.

In both cases you're right; the two teams have the same records from their previous seasons. In Duke's case, I believe they had one fewer loss over the last two year period. Two teams from P5 conferences running the same numbers in wins and losses.

There's no difference there.

But geez, man, look at what we see at USC.

Helton on the hot seat from last season.
He's fired Pendergast (DC) and the last note I saw in his replacement the story indicated a Rams coach had turned the job down.
He's fired their special teams coach.

What's going on with their offensive coordinator? While Harrell did sign an extension in December he also is said to have interviewed with the Eagles this past week.

It's the Holiday bowl but the loss to Iowa isn't something from which you can build momentum.

The whole point of this is setting the stage that USC is going to be really bad next year. The idea is that their coach is only being kept because they don't want to pay his buyout, not because the administration thinks they will get any better. USC won't be ranked at any point next year (according to pretty much everyone) so playing them is really no better than playing a no-name team. The media wants to make sure that any win over them gets no consideration at all. Unless you are a team not named Bama.

The point is...USCw is a true blue bood program.....you cant know who will be up or down....but you schedule blue bloods....or almost blue bloods...or even wanna be blue bloods....you have a better chance of competition and credit for winning or losing then scrubs.... every body loves the schedule with Texas...they aint done nuthin in many years....may be a 6-6 team by time they’re on schedule.... but its still TEXAS....or USCw...or MIAMI....often "perception is greater then reality" and sometimes more important

@rick4bama

Is this the article?

Yes it is. I look it up and posted it to this thread.

Yes, that me alright

I don’t know what that means but....you put me and @rick4bama in same category.... I take that as a compliment..... may not be for Rick... Lol
I'm find with it too!

Now the USC West and East thing! I do this a lot when I'm posting about these two school! I think for now on I will just post them as Trojans and Cocks! But then someone would think I'm talking about Troy and Jacksonville State!

Do you think Pete is talking about South Carolina?

Psh, that could be said about a million things.

And legally only one USC. You sound like Ohio State trying to trademark "The" and every freaking"O" out there. I don't think anyone on a sports site is tapping into legal documentation when they type.

Consider yourself informed ;). Generally speaking, I prefer to be educated on topics I'm going to talk about.

I'm done beating this horse.

I already knew about the lawsuit and how it affected both school, but it still doesn't stop me from saying USC to South Carolina fans and USC to Southern Cal fans. I rarely use abbreviations, but I do here, which is kind of strange. I don't use UA, UofA, UNC, ND, UT or any of those when referring to a college team. I am weird and in the minority there I'm sure, but it's just who I am. I really only use USC, but I know my audience. Guess I just saw it as petty correcting someone that used USCw and USCe, because it's what they know and how they like to do it. Lord knows we all have our quirks and how we do things when it comes to our favorite hobbies, college athletics. And I personally don't care what a guy in a tweet is saying. You could simply say the same thing for anyone in the Southeast referring to South Carolina.
