šŸ“ The Tuscaloosa News learned that on his way out the door, Smart took a picture of Alabama’s recruiting board,

Rule got changed for a reason. Kirby changing the landscape of college football in his favor... He learned from the best.

Kirby had an interview with Auburn but couldn't have taken other jobs?! C'mon man. You think people weren't reaching out behind the scenes and being told "no thanks" over those years? He was the hottest coordinator in the game.
Seriously? You really think Kirby stuck around out of the goodness of his heart? He was waiting for the right job and he got it.

What rule was that? The rule was in place BEFORE Smart was even offered the HC job at UGA. Smart then went and broke the rule to lure Mo Smith to UGA. The SEC office then lacked the balls to enforce their own damn rule!!!

I was under the impression grad transfers now had more leeway to transfer in conference.... Or was that just for Mo Smith?

Either it is/was a terrible rule. Unless the NCAA wants to block coaching "transfers" in conference

But.....it was Mo that saved or won the vs AU game for UGA......
What a great fitting for the controversy......
Karma is a bitch

They amended the rule to allow Zaire to transfer in from Notre Dame. There was no rule change in the last spring meetings for intra-conference transfers. It was brought up, but tabled.

This is not something I "think."

And Nick didn't benefit along the way also?

Yet, that has nothing to do with your assertion Saban was wrong by following conference rules. @CmnRef is completely right here. He was looking for the right spot. The previous off-season Kirby had talked to a few teams, two is what I recall off the top of my head, and wasn't offered any position. He was very high on the list for UofSC until UGA changed the timeline by firing Richt.

And....it is a stupid...unfair...ridiculous rule....
A player graduates.....he should be free to go anywhere....no exceptions.....
....a coach just left a SEC school...and went to another...Mullins
And didnt fulfill his contract at MSU.....
Curry did it, tuberville did it.....probably a lot others....

I know it too!

As he should have been. Saban 0/1 in title games without Kirby... Hope that changes tonight, What won't change is that Kirby did a lot right by Saban... Not just the other way around.

A horrible comparison.

A player can't be fired for no cause.

Crumbled? Well wasnt mo on the team the year before and look at the yards the team gave up to Clemson...
It was Deshaun Watson....
Probably lost of Eddie Jackson hurt more then losing Mo

Comparing a slight margin victory to a slight margin loss, after losing a solid depth option between seasons probably doesn't work in your favor. Especially considering the Eddie Jackson injury, definitely missed another experienced player back there.

I know it too!
You know what? Cite these interviews and offers he said "no thanks" to. You said he turned down a dozen. That's wrong.

Having Mo would have helped with the loss of Jackson. No doubt.

It is a little funny it's now the secondary that crumbled. It wasn't the secondary that gave Clemson another 15 yards when Payne was flagged. It wasn't the secondary that were allowing those short routes.

Why the hell I'm in this thread talking about last years game...geez. :bandhead:

Your endless love for Saban, of course!

Well...in my opinion...it was the best player in CF..watson...on both occasions...
Sure Mo may have helped...but...we controlled Wash With D backfield...and lots of others...
