šŸ“ The Tuscaloosa News learned that on his way out the door, Smart took a picture of Alabama’s recruiting board,

I was under the impression grad transfers now had more leeway to transfer in conference.... Or was that just for Mo Smith?

Either it is/was a terrible rule. Unless the NCAA wants to block coaching "transfers" in conference

The rule was in place when it came to grad transfers. SEC said you couldn’t do it in conference. Kirby and Tucker contacted MS and got the ball rolling. MS questioned the rule and Saban leaned on the rule that was in place. The SEC office then folded like a cheap suit because of the blow back. The SEC has now made it a free for all when it comes to grad transfers.

So then the rules has changed as previously noted. Got it

No. The rule was amended to allow Zaire in without the penalties that were in place. (Florida was facing a three year penalty that would have kept them from any grad transfers.)

The intra-conference transfer rule proposal was tabled.

—The league tabled a proposal that would have allowed intra-conference graduate transfers. Georgia suggested the legislation after Alabama initially balked at letting defensive back Maurice Smith transfer to the Bulldogs in 2016. The league stepped in and granted Smith to a waiver to transfer to Georgia. He ended up starting 11 games and finishing as the team's sixth-leading tackler. Alabama coach Nick Saban was strongly opposed to the legislation.

And to think that ungrateful asshole is questioning who he should pull for in this game, from what I saw posted on Instagram. I have not been in this situation, but I personally cannot see how you can spend 3-4 years with one team in the beginning and then shoot off to another team for six months and your allegiance be with the new team. You learned everything you know from School #1, built relationships, played, won a Championship, worked hard in the 4th Quarter Program. Then you transfer to School #2 in the middle of Summer or early Fall, play with that team for six months, earning valuable playing time I'll add, but never getting the time to build relationships with those on your new team, never bleeding and training during those two a days with them. So you put those two together, how do you have a conflict of mind on who to root for? Hell, he knows players on both teams, and STILL spent more time with our guys.

It probably has more to do with the idea of Tony Brown being in line for his playing time last season... You would have been offended too!! :rolf:

Tony wasn't in the two-deep to start the season last year. Mo was thinking about Fitz and Humphrey playing the corners and he was going to be relegated to STAR--a position he thought was less/inferior than playing a CB. What makes his decision so odd is the position he ended up playing at UGA? STAR.

He would have been fighting Minkah for that position (STAR) and it would have boiled down to whether he was on the field versus Anthony.

(FWIW, D. Thompson was listed higher on the depth chart to start 2016.)

Georgia's coach helped win a lot of rings at Alabama. Saban was on the wrong side of the Mo Smith saga. Both true.
When is following the set rules wrong? How is following the rules set forth by the conference wrong?

Answer: It isn't. You can say the rule is wrong. You can't say a coach following the rules is wrong.

1. The rule didn't force Saban to block the transfer (he let Chris Black transfer to Mizzu, remember?)

2. He was morally wrong to do so

2 wrongs don't make a right, Terry! lol

So, what you're doing is taking one person, one instance, and using it as the proverbial "cookie cutter" to cover all players and all situations. Right.

What happened with Chris Black had nothing to do with what happened with Mo. Not a thing. I'm shaking my head to think that his situation, in any manner, resembles that of Mo.

2. He was morally wrong to do so

Morally? Morally wrong? Morally is defined by exactly what he did. There was a set code of conduct, described by the by-laws, which he followed. That by its pure definition means he did exactly the right thing.

That's true no matter how many times you're wrong here.

Still waiting here ...

If I remember correct didn't Chris Black get a hardship waiver for his transfer... makes a big difference to your argument there stalker. I think I remember that correct and Mo Smith just transferred because he was down the depth chart big difference.

And since we are discussing morals, What Smart did by taking a photo of the board and using it to negative recruit while he was still on Alabama's dime was morally wrong but I think this whole story is just game day clutter. Now we know how Smart is going to be and what kind of character he is going to use.. instead of making a big deal out of it. Just know that is how he is going to act and use it to your advantage.

Yes, you're right in that sense. Mizzu had no chance of beating Alabama.

If I remember correctly Chris Black was coming off a surgery and wasn't with the team second semester. Regardless, Saban ALLOWED him to transfer to another SEC school in which Chris Black believed was in his best interest. Hence the resemblance.

If this is your stance, than Saban went against his morals by allowing Chris Black to circumvent the system in which Saban truly believes in.

Bro, you're the one tossing the word "morality" (and its derivatives) around like it's a worn out sofa pillow or a two-bit whore. I was commenting on the hyperbole of such a statement--a characterization I find ludicrous.

1. Already been explained, not the same issue.

2. Someone needs to explain to you what the word "morally" means.

And you have been defending Smart on pretty much everything involved here. You even defended the idea that he broke the rules, because you dont like the idea that Saban tried to block Mo Smith from going to Georgia.
