Do you ever feel sad for 14? 11 had a 14-year run, 12 hung around for 17 years. 13 was cut short in its prime after only two short years, but 14....14 had a mere year of significance. Caps were yet fully broken in, sweat stains not yet set, still worn for show and not for work. T-shirts were out of date before the second summer could run. 15 has no claim on fleeting glory, with three years for hats to wear, stickers to fade.

Here's to a very short life for 16.

No, 14 realized it wasn't the length of his reign, but rather the significance it held. I'd imagine his only regret lies outside of himself and resides in the fact that, like 1, especially 7 (who suffered the worst of all), and 10, he was not capable of fully establishing the base of an all powerful triumvirate of success that would live in the infamy of CFB lore.

I hope 16 has the same selflessness and resiliency. He'll need it as 17 arrives in short order ..nothing sadder than numerical lugubriosity.
