Seems to me like it will play out one of two ways - 1) Clemson win moves them to #2 or they stay at #3 and ND falls to #4 which at least avoids part 3 in the first round, 2) Clemson loses they fall out of the playoffs.

I think Clemson beats ND in ACCCG then the committee has decisions to make with regards to ND. Will they leave them in the top 4 or not. I suspect they will unless Clemson just blows them out. With all that said a lot of football (hopefully) left.

Notre Dame hangs on at 4 after losing a good game to Clemson.

That's the best possible matchup for Alabama, probably, in the opening game of the playoff.

I agree that's the best case for Bama, but I don't think ND gets the nod over Clemson if they trade wins since their W was w/o a starting QB and in OT.

I am saying if Clemson wins the rematch, both Clemson and ND get in. Clemson gets the 2 or 3 seed, Notre Dame #4.

This was the scenario I brought up earlier also. ND moves to 4 so there would not be a Clemson vs ND #3 as someone mentioned unless they both win the semifinal. Doubt that would happen. I am always interested to see bama drill ND anytime so let it happen. Of course Bama has to take care of their own business for that to happen and it starts this weekend.
