🏈 The news on Allen you've been waiting for...

Amazing news for next year's defense.

Passing up a possible mid first round contract is hard to believe! He must really love the program.

I could also see there being some injury or lingering health concerns that may have come up in the draft process.

Regardless, Bama will have the best D Lineman in the SEC and possibly in the country next season. RTR!

Unbelievable. Somebody is gonna have to explain to me how on Earth Allen did not receive a first round grade. Allen is one of my all time favorites so I'm beyond excited I get to watch him play for the Tide again next year but damn I will be nervous about him staying healthy another season. An injury would be a disaster. Maybe he will be able to get one of those pre-draft insurance policies ?

He probably did get a first round grade.

But as I mentioned, the evaluators don't have personal/inside health information at this point. He may have been playing through some type of legitimate injury that would have impacted his draft stock after his announcement.

OR, he just really, really wanted to finish what he started on and off the field at Alabama

Has he finished his degree? Family concerns for education may be a factor.

However, with another big year, he likely moves into the top 10.

Hope nothing but the best for him. It will be great leadership and example leading the front 4.

Man. We lost A'shawn, Ragland and Reed. But our front 7 is still going to be very very nasty. And we should still keep plenty of depth. We need a QB and a RB to step up and be the men and we're going to have a great team.

The depth on the front 7 will be really interesting to watch. There's just not much experience besides to usual suspects.

I would love to see them move Rashaan Evans to MLB. He's clearly a gifted pass rusher, but with our scheme there's very little chance he's going to be a 3 down LB. He's just not big enough to set the edge in run defense.

We have Ryan Anderson and Tim Williams both coming back at that position, and both can likely be 3 down players. Moving Evans to MLB could allow him to make plays as a run defender, spy, coverage line backer, and/or allow him to pass rush on third downs like Hightower and Ragland.

The kid is just amazingly explosive and knows how to make plays. Can't wait to see him on the field more next year... Just a matter of how much more.

I would be surprised if moving him to MLB doesn't happen this year. Hamilton is a bit undersized and we need the future of that position to start taking shape. Also, watch out for C. Miller this year making a step in becoming the next star on this team.

I dont know for a fact but I would imagine he did get a first round grade but this may have some impact on his decision (maybe not a lot but at least some):

This is from PFF's Mock Draft:
30. Denver Broncos: Jonathan Allen, DE, Alabama

Another case of replacing a potential free agent, Denver DE Malik Jackson is set to hit the market so what better way to make up for missing production than with a similar player in Allen. He led all interior rushers with 13 sacks to go with six hits and 16 hurries, and while he only played 39.5 percent of Alabama’s defensive snaps, Allen’s two-year grade of +55.3 on only 903 snaps is just too much to pass up for Denver.

You can def. argue against many of the grades that PFF gives out but the fact that Allen only played 39.5% of the defensive snaps was a bit surprising to me.
