🏈 While you've been complaining 😂 ... Bama's defense has established itself as one of the best in the conference.

Ranked 52nd in rush D allowing 144.5 rushing yards per game. Everything else is great AND the rush D has improved significantly from earlier in the year.

The Barn will try and attack the run D especially with who they think is the 2nd coming of their pimp QB from their one glory year. They needed to test drive him last week to see what they have. Of course that was against Mercer.

This is a great example of what I meant by saying you are sapping all the joy out of what could have been a fun season for you. You're looking at the rushing yards while ignoring the total yards. And like the reaction to the Tennessee win, I feel you are just dismissing the most important thing: scoring defense.

And way D is communicating on the field. Seem to have right players in position.
Looks like good leadership along with good coaching. Good talent. Playing a lot of players.
Couple of things. The seniors. We will miss theym. Big boy in middle...really gonna miss him...maybe most of all

Second. Lots of bitching...like bama fans do...after loss to OK
FG miss...TY sacked ....lost ball... droopped passes... all hurt bad

But Jefferson cut in front of pass....open to ez...and dropped int...as big of play in game as existed

But this D....hope DC stays.......looking forward to 26 season...( we just came home from ttown last night...after 25..football attendance over..camping over...cry cry cry)

No joy sapped out of me that is just your interpretation. Stats do not have emotions they are just numbers that tell part of a story. You left out the rush defense state for some reason. It is part of the total picture. Have they improved in rush defense absolutely and I stated as much. Thank goodness because if it had not I would have been unhappy as would many on here because there would have been more losses than two.

I can certainly live with 34 yards of total defense given up as well as total yards being what they are..

If you are looking at the run defense and that's your measurement—which you have referred to often—versus looking at total defense you're looking at a spot on a picture rather than the entire work. If that measurement/spot is a negative, it is by definition sapping positive sapping the positive.

You have truth and fiction mixed in together here. It's true, "they are just numbers." Which is why your mention of those rushing yards lacks merit. It's a fraction of a larger number. BUT, more importantly here.

I sledom refer to a simple number when I'm referring to a statistical measurements. Here's a ranking.

How often have I used the word "efficiency?" That does tell the story more often, far more often, than not. Think about this. It's what I was pointing to with Vandy, and Tennessee, when we talked about those games before and after they happened.

Now, there are four major tracked measurements on defensive output: run, pass, total, and scoring. All four are mentioned.

Overall, a tad behind OU because...you know the answer.

Scoring D? #2
Total D? #1
Passing D? #1.

I do put more weight on rush defense, total defense and scoring as the main metrics I keep an eye on. To me the rush defense shows how well you are controlling the line of scrimmage so a proxy for how physical the team is. It also points to mostly how well you are controlling the game I believe. Of course there are other ways to control the game if you score fast and often that does it also. Maybe some of these efficiency numbers you quote are trying to do the same.
