The Thundering Herd....was there after the plane crash...
Still affected the community so many years later

@50+yeartidefan I live about 45 minutes from Huntington, W.V. along the river going toward Cincinnati. I have been to many Marshall games over the years but prefer Ohio University in Athens to the Herd. Marshall has a great tradition as you well know with the turning off and on of the fountain in memory for the plane crash that killed the players, coach's and others traveling back from the game with East Carolina. The head coach also takes the team to the cemetery on a yearly basis to that memorial as well. The wreck still affects the community and surrounding tri-state area.

The best CEO I've worked for is a Marshall grad, his dad was the mayor of Kenova, WV when the crash happened.
