🏈 The Coaching Carousel : UT promotes Kelsey Pope to WR coach

"Ladies and Gentlemen, Mista Randy Watson!!!"

So......It has been a decade since we last saw a team win back to back titles. (Bama 11/12)

Since that time 2 things have come to pass that have drastically changed the face of college football. Free agency under the auspices of the transfer portal and NIL money.

It is hard enough to win a title, let alone 2 or 3. Going back to back is super difficult. 2 titles in 5 years? I think Riley will have everything he needs at his disposal to win at USC; however, It will take at least 2 years to get them up to snuff and have a legitimate shot to beat the big dogs in the play offs. (something he couldn't do at OU, a true blueblood program) That leaves 3 years to win 2 titles , IMO. I don't think this tweet is going to age well.

I thought for sure you were gonna say we won 3 more NC's and had 2 more Heisman winners. ;) :)

Riley will have zero problems getting 5* QB's and skill players... he will be having to turn some away. But I don't see him being successful there in terms of winning national championships. I do see him being successful in terms of owning the Pac 12 and getting to the playoffs. But he's not going to have a roster than can go toe to toe physically with the best SEC teams year in and year out, just like he dealt with at OU. He dodged the SEC grind for a reason (could have stayed at OU or jumped to LSU)... and that's fine. He's getting top money and some neat welcome prizes at USC... but that's also an attitude that will mesh well with his southern California football player feeder pond. Still, I think USC will be coach searching again well before most folks think... I don't see this marriage with Riley being a long one.

I don't like "trolling" in most forms; especially not from a national analyst. With each passing year my respect for Mike dwindles even more.

I get what he's trying to do here with his "analogy." It's blatantly dishonest.

He did it at the end of the year AND has 100+ million reasons to do it. I would call that extenuating circumstances :).
