🏀 Texas A&M @ Alabama

Aggies come in with a 18-5 record, having lost their last two to Vandy and South Carolina. They have a very experienced lineup, and are shooting 42% from the field as a team.

Aggies are 5-4 away from home, while Alabama has a 8-2 record in Coleman Coliseum.

Aggies have 3 guys who average double figures in PPG:

(G) Jalen Jones (6-7)- 16 PPG, 7.2 RPG
(G) Danuel House (6-7)- 15.7 PPG, 4.9 RPG
(C) Tyler Davis (6-10)- 11 PPG, 5.6 RPG

Taylor will have a huge task inside against Davis.

A&m is 96th in the nation in scoring offense, averaging close to 77PPG. They're also averaging 38.4 RPG (79th in the nation). If Bama is going to have a shot in this game, they are going to have to play match A&M on the glass. Aggies are 42nd in the nation in scoring defense, giving up an average of 65.4 a game--Bama isn't far behind, just giving up 67 PPG. They're shooting 45% from the field, 51% in the paint, and 36% from beyond the arc.

Bama wins and they still have a shot at the dance. I thought making it was a lost cause after the loss to Oregon. A win over the Aggies would go a long, long way though. A quality win. A conference win. A late season win. Twenty win season still well within reach considering the schedule.

A loss tomorrow night and Bama would have to win the rest for a 20-10 regular season.
Bama winning out after a loss tomorrow night and a loss to Kentucky would necessitate a win in the SEC tourney to get to 20 wins.

We need this win badly.

I don't see Bama winning on the road at Kentucky, Florida, or LSU, and possibly dropping one of the final two games vs Arkansas and @Georgia.

Also would be Bama's 4th win vs the top 25 this year.

I agree. Huge!! That's why that Oregon loss after being up big hurt so much. I still think that would have been a quality win.

One more comment. If Alabama loses to Georgia, the Tide doesn't deserve to play post-season ANYWHERE!!

Georgia is kind of sitting in a similar position like us, but doesn't have the quality wins. They're a tough team at home, but would hurt our chances certainly. We beat A&M and avoid all the bad losses, Alabama can finish up with 18-12 record before the conference tournament and sit with an RPI of 58. So that likely won't push us in the tournament either way.

Still very proud of what CAJ has done this year

That Oregon loss still sticks with me. Alabama played toe-to-toe with one of the best teams in the nation, without Hale, and basically without Retin because he had a off game. Credit to Norris and Coleman for showing up, but if ( and yes, I hate playing the IF game so much) Retin has even half the performance that he does regularly, Alabama wins it.

Sucks losing, but speaks levels to what CAJ is going to do here. Dealing with attrition and having to change his offensive philosophy, and yet still having Alabama fighting for an NCAA birth is just remarkable to me. To go with that, Alabama is averaging a near sell out almost every game this year. Crazy.

I think one more quality win, which could be tomorrow, or could be at LSU or at Kentucky. and no worse than 9-9 in the league puts us in the dance. Granted none of those three will be easy, but at least we know what we are facing.

OT: Georgia is getting the shit kicked out of them right now by UK. Murray has more FGs than the entire UGA team right now. It's bad. We cannot afford to lose to them, even on the road.

That's what I was saying. UTC beat them, which at the time I thought was pretty good for the Mocs but maybe not so much now.
