| FTBL Terry Grant

With his limitied playing time, I imagine he will be a force! He gets the chance to do what we all know he can. Gotta love Bamas rb stable.

I hope he does great! However, I wouldn't be shocked if he's a little rusty.

During his time on offesne this year, the games have LONG since been decided.

Practice is one thing, but live game speed in a critical situation is a little different. I hope he does great, however!!

I think he only needs 2-3 yards to break 1,000 for his career? He almost had the yardage on the last play against Ark State...but he lost yards.

I expect TG to do pretty well in this game. He has yet been given the opportunity to run behind the ones this year and they make RB's look real, real good. It will be interesting to see what TG can do when the hole opens up with the wheels he has. To date Terry has only played sparingly, in a relief role, late in the games when defenses have sold out to stop the run so I don't know if his stats are a true indication of what we can expect this Saturday. Another positive for Terry is that Miss State is weaker in the front seven than in years past which bodes well for Terry's success this week. I hope he gets the majority of carries, and give Coffee and Ingram as much rest as possible.

We need him to carry a load this weekend and it would give Coffee, Ingram and Upchurch some much needed rest. Have we played D. Goode yet this year?

Goode had 7 carries in the Western Kentucky game...21 yards total...same game where Darrah played QB.

Just looking over the stats this year....

Our RB's have lost a total of 64 yards this year when stopped behind the line of scrimmage.

Grant has looked rather iffy to me this year. He's really not an up the middle guy and that seems to limit him. I hope he does VERY well though.

I think he can do very well if they run plays where he can be successful, like screens, short slants, or misdirections. Running him between the tackles, unless the holes are huge is not were he excels, and we have seen that. If we have to use him, I hope we call plays that utilize his strenghths. If not, I don't see a great contribution from him.

Well since he's from Lumberton, Mississippi I'm sure there's nothing more he'd like to do personally than to have a great performance and a win vs. State.

Right, 'BamaDelta. 'Bama has had so many great players from Mississippi.

I hope Terry sets the field ablaze for no other reason than to reward him for his patience.

He has been set aside for a different style of play and those tough decisions have to be made by men who are paid to make them.

But, if anyone deserves it, deserves to have a good game, I feel it is Terry. He hasn't made an issue out of his lack of playing time and has stuck with the team and did what he was required to do.

Let's hope for a hundred yard +'er.

Bingo!

That man can fly. You know, when I watch he and Coffee run the ball, he just doesn't look a lot different to me in his running style. Sure, Coffee's got some size on him, and that by default makes Coffee a better "between the tackles" back. But I loved the way Terry Grant ran all over Vandy back last season. That was a tough, fast defense and he made them look like chumps. Miss State isn't nearly as stout, and TG could have a HUGE day.

All that being said, I am afraid the starters will still be in there deep into the 4th

I hope Terry gets a chance & does well this weekend. There have been some rumblings about him transferring after the season. I wish him the best regardless.

Huh? Why? That would suck. I like Terry

Consider...

Trent Richardson
Mark Ingram
Roy Upchurch
Glen Coffee
Ivan Matchett
Jermaine Preyear
Demetrius Goode

I can't see going into the 2009 season with 8 RB's on scholarship. It's all speculation at this point, but there is some logic to it, that we see a transfer or two out of the RB group.

The fact is we are going to see some attrition across the board and that number could be as high as double digits.

i think Preyear may have a future in the secondary from the way he looks. i don't know if he's ever played any as a DB but...

Goode could bulk up and make a fullback possibly.

i hate to see them transfer, but that is a bunch of talent jammed in there.

What's funny here is the move to DB puts JP in a position where he's surrounded by a bunch of talent again. That said, I don't know if he played any defensive backfield when he was in high school.

What he's going to be able to do on the football field is a great unknown to me...he had a good senior season, despite playing with his shoulder the way it was.
