🏈 Terrell Lewis returned to practice today (Monday.)

I would imagine he would be rusty with only a week to prepare for UGA. If he is ready to play, I would suspect the next month of bowl prep would be excellent and he should be able to make an impact.

He was rusty against Auburn, but he was key against Georgia. Let him have a taste and then be ready for the Playoffs. Gah he's a big bastard. Just a massive, lean cut guy.

That has to be qualified since he's been running for several weeks now. In shape versus in game shape is the question.

You have the education and experience in these matters so you can correct me where I'm wrong.

It's my understanding that the typical rehab time for this type of injury and surgery is roughly six to nine months. As in, six to nine months to return to where a person was before the injury. I have a few friends who have dealt with the same thing and I've seen it take as much as 12 months for them to be to a point they feel "ready."

But then again, we've got stories like Jerry Rice and his return to action. How long was it for Rice? I seem to recall about four months.

Here's where it gets murky for those of us with "arm chair medical degrees." We can't just compare what has happened to people we know and use it to judge who quickly Lewis will return. With the medical staff at UA, combined with Lewis being an atypical case, his rehab is A LOT different than you or I would experience. He's not your normal guy, ya know?

UGA this weekend puts Lewis at roughly five months of rehab. The playoffs, six. If he's able, I can see the staff giving him 12-15 reps against UGA. I'm not holding my breath.

Another question that bears noting--does Lewis actually want to 'shirt this season? If not for the injury, he'd be looking at one of the early entree spots in the draft. IF he does return next season, we can expect him to leave with a year of eligibility left.

Let's also keep this in mind. After two injuries like he's endured, would you blame him if he decides to forego the rest of the season and look to the draft? I wouldn't. Selfishly I'd love to see him in Crimson next season. Professionally, I'd say continue to rehab and make your move now.

I expected Lewis to be a hot commodity after the season and I personally was as high on his draft prospects as any junior on the roster. But it would seem to be economic suicide to take the plunge this year even with a playoff appearance. With the injury costing him almost a full season last year, he really doesn't have that many college reps under his belt. I think he comes back for a lot of reasons.

No idea what he is hearing. Maybe he thinks it best to come out for a few games, show everything he has, and run to the pros before he gets hurt again. It is a chance, but at least he still could take the RS this year and recover before next season. Who knows what happens in another full season.

1. Please don't attempt to give him a celebrity moniker. He isn't JLo.
I strongly agree with this!
2. He won't be playing this year. He isn't in condition and he isn't ready.
I believe you forgot a few words here, in my opinion? ;)

All we do know is Diggs and Allen are not coming back this season. Lewis is a question that hasn't been answered. He's been running for a few months now, working out as well in the weight room, and has been seen moving around pretty well.

I'm not saying he's coming back. I am saying no one knows at this point. The semi's are still over a month away.

Where is this info been posted? How do you know that he isn't conditioned and he isn't ready?

As I said before, if he is healthy and cleared to go... I would expect he would play. I also don't think we will know if he is healthy and cleared to play until he does play... so this is all speculation and forum talk. Just like Jalen... I have no doubt Saban and staff have a plan and are fully able to figure it out.

@TerryP spot on. With how well conditioned athletes are these days, we have seen a recovery time for these injures go down. Every athlete is different, but in recent years we have seen these guys with about a 6-8 month turnaround give/take. Only one I remember taking longer was Dontae Hightower. He got hurt mid-season (soph year) against Arkansas and while I think he was physically able to do everything, he stated it took him till mid season (RS-sophomore year) to get back to where he "trusted" his knee. Each guy is different.

I was thinking that he tore his ACL in spring, but it was actually July. If he is back this week, that insane.
