| FTBL Tennessee / Pruitt sanctions announced

Tennessee gets essentially nothing and Pruitt gets a season suspension and a six year show cause

Vols got what they wanted... they are out from under the fallout and Pruitt is radioactive to Alabama. Meanwhile, Fulmer, who oversaw and encouraged it all... slinks away into the shadows, again.

That's not to say Pruitt shouldn't have been burned to a degree, he should have. It is saying, the punishment he has already served was pretty damn bad in an of itself.

Honestly it is more than I expected. Do you guys not believe the loss of scholarships, official vists etc.... could impact the Vile recruting. Many of these are for the duration of probation. I know some have already be served but still have a 6 year window. I like everyone else would love to see them be reduced to well what they were for 15 years but $8M and the other items seem like more than a slap.

Tennessee has been volunteering small penalties over the last few years (loss of scholarships, reduced recruiting days, reduced contacts) in order to minimize a BIG penalty. It worked.

The scholarship reductions and less visits will most certainly hurt them at some point, and the $8 million payout is certainly no chump change, that's money that could've went back into the program in many different ways. But they still got off pretty light considering what they were caught doing.

They were soft on them and hammered Pruitt to me.

Hopefully this will allow Pruitt to ease back into a role at Bama. Be an analyst and take over for Steele next year.
I want him back, badly.... but, 6 years is an absolute fuck job. If we do bring him back in anyway, we'll have to deal with dumb shit NCAA regularly while he's still under these infractions. As of right now, I don't think Saban wants to deal with that. We'll see, he may hire him. All we can hope for now is that these penalties will be reduced at some point.

Unlike the Vols, he had no protection from Sankey. Didn't do himself many favors with the lawsuit either, but hard to blame him there since he was hung out to dry. Then again, he should have known the pool he was jumping into from the start, so hard to feel too sorry for him.

Listening to Tide100.5 driving to and from work and one of the commentators on there were saying UT would be able to circumvent the scholarship losses by using NIL to effectively provide the lost scholarships. if so, all this really leaves as a weapon for the NCAA against the school is the financial penalties.

This leaves me wondering when the show cause starts with Pruitt. If UT can self-impose their scholarship losses early shouldn't the time Pruitt has been away be credited as well? I don't know how that works.

I don't buy that.

No one has metnioned this but if Pruitt did this while in Vileville was he doing this when he was at Bama? Probably did not need to as much but unlikely he just started this kind of stuff. Now in this NIL world it would be the norm.
