šŸˆ Tennessee is hiring UCF’s Josh Heupel as its next head football coach,

Is Will going to the place of Pete as our DC? Turning down Texas tells us he has another choice he likes better or he is going to take some time away and enjoy life and the local Golden Corral

sincerely hope not. He is still trying to stop offenses that are 10 or more years out of date not to mention I think he has become a buffoonish caricature of himself

never said he was not going to be employable

original question was why would he need ā€œCoach Saban celebrity rehabā€

Butch Jones was a HC before he went to 10rc. Was fired for losing. Stayed in CNS rehab for how long before getting another HC gig?

Pruitt isn’t going to walk out of this situation and into another HC job no matter your personal admiration for him

He is a good DC. IMO based on what I have seen of his coaching at 10rc he is not at this time a good HC. Maybe he becomes one in the future but I’ve seen nothing that points to this being the case

Also if he was set for life financially we wouldn’t be discussing his employability status

What part @50+yeartidefan. I am not from Sand Mountain but grew up in Jackson County.

Pruitt's future finances is a bit of a side story in all of this. Tennessee and Fulmer were pissed off to no end that Butch landed at Bama, on their dime, and road out the contract. I'm not sure if Pruitt would end up back at UA again if he's fired (there's a lot involved there), but it is at least the possibility that he'd end up on the support staff as an analyst. No way in hell is Fulmer (or the Vols) going to want to pick up that tab again.
If Fulmer doesn't like it, then we should do it. That's my decision tree
I have been telling the corn dogs that if they fire O we will make an analyst out of him and bleed them.

Rivals Mike Ferrell and Adam Gorney predict Tennessee will fire Pruitt before or just after National Signing Day. They claim the recruiting scandal involving current RB Eric Gray and 2021 recruit Amarius Mims will mean his end as the Vol’s head coach. Because the program’s regressing and due to the seriousness of these allegations, Ferrell and Gorney claim the administration will not go to the mat for Pruitt. If Tennessee’s put on probation which seems likely, Pruitt will not receive any compensation with his termination and he will have an extremely difficult time getting back to the head coaching level at a Power 5 school again. My only hope is Fulmer goes down with him. Even better though not even remotely likely, would be if he was involved. In any event, he brought Pruitt in so he’ll be at a minimum somewhat tarnished for that.

Any chance we can add Pruitt back to the staff immediately after his termination, or will he have to "go away" for a little while like Bo Davis who was recently hired by Sark at Texas I believe BTW.

IMO, it would depend on what all comes out in the (investigation) wash, but I think if he was added it wouldn't be for anything other than an analyst spot at this point. It appears, rightly or wrongly, the Vols are going to make sure he's damaged goods.

The timing is what I find interesting or am I missing something?

Tennessee a signs 19 during ESP (early signing period).
Leaked that recruiting violations pop up just after ESP. dumb luck I'm sure.
Now they're going to wait until around NSD? Why?

In the grand scheme I can't make sense of hardly any of this. Only thing I can figure about waiting is, they already know what they are going to do, but maybe around that time the "investigation" will be completed so they can then make the move and have all their legal ducks in a row to avoid the payout.

A bunch of my Vol acquaintances here say Kiffin and Freeze are their top 2 choices Phat Phil is pursuing. Who knows. I’m just really enjoying my popcorn as I sit back and watch the never ending downward spiral that is UT football. It’s the gift that keeps on giving. Never a dull moment. I could enjoy this for another 40-50 years. One of these guys told me Bama has just gotten better than everyone else at paying recruits. LOL They never grow up...

Name my friends... not big wigs for sure....
Say jeff fisher from old titans years...moved on to Rams...and canned from there... is hot and heavy for job...
Since noone else is ready available....
....and things looking bad for JP...Fulmer is giving zero support...to JP...boosters want him gone
With @Rolltide24 .... enjoying the ride

I was all on that Freeze to the Vols train not long ago, but with the mess they have going on with this investigation, I'd have to think that particular ship has sailed. Funny enough though, his pal Gus' name has been thrown around but I don't see that happening. Word is, Fulmer wants Doug Marrone (someone he knows pretty well and probably thinks he can control). The other question is, will Fulmer survive all this too?
